Howdy, TexAgs!

Y'all have heard from me a couple of times already first, a little intro here and then a follow-up here about our favorite Texas Country/Red Dirt bands.

After a lot of talk about BBQ and country music, I felt it was necessary to give a little thank you to the TexAgs fam and do a little giveaway.

VIP tickets to Troubadour Festival at Aggie Park on May 20 are sold out (we still have BBQ & Music and Music tickets on sale here), but I've got a pair to give away to one lucky TexAgs subscriber.

VIP tickets include an hour-earlier entry into the BBQ sampling, an exclusive VIP festival t-shirt, two free drinks, access to flushable bathrooms, and access to a private VIP grove with front-of-stage access.

Sounds pretty legit, right?

So, how do you enter? Just respond to this thread with your favorite Texas A&M/Bryan-College Station memory. Maybe it was a football game, a concert, graduation … anything. You do that and you're entered.

Also, congrats to "TJH_16" from our last thread to win two Music tickets to Troubadour Festival! Shoot me an email at chase@troubadourfestival.com and I'll get you squared away.

Good luck, y'all! We're stoked to read your responses.

Just walking on campus as a student thinking about my great grandad ('39) and how proud he would be that I became an Aggie. When he passed away my family never thought I'd even make it out of high school. I barely did, I went to Junior and Community college and applied 3 times before getting in. I thank God every day for the opportunity to be an Aggie and I never take it for granted.

I think it was early 60's. Went to Grove with cousin and sat on bench seats and watched movie "Bye Bye Birdie".
Not the greatest memory obviously, but for some reason it's an old one I remember.
Best memory was watching Ed Hargett win game on last drive to win conference. '67 I believe.

Since I see all the BBQ on here, it makes me think of Tom's BBQ in the late 1970-80's. The original was on Texas Avenue and was absolutely delicious. Later, opened up the large one on S. College Avenue and I always ordered "the aggie special" which had the meat, sauce, bread, pickle, onion, and cheese all on butcher papre and a knife to cut it and eat it. It became so popular that anytime we had a televised football game, the announcers always talked about it. ......AND A&M was known as LB U because we had year after year of awesome linebackers. I miss both the BBQ and LB who could hit, blitz and tackle.

Sitting downin the upper deck of Kyle field, Watching everyone rush the field after the Alabama game. Just taking it all in. I have not moved the whole game and I was physically exhausted. Let's do it again this year

Watching the LSU 7OT game had to take the cake. Full day of tailgating, entertained a client. Got invited down to a suite at halftime near the endzone where all the action took place in 4th quarter and the OT's...and then a perfect view of the most incredible game I've ever seen in person.

Woke up around 2:00 am to the sound of someone in the hall yelling "They got Bevo! They got Bevo!" Outside, they were driving Bevo up and down the quad in a cattle trailer behind a police escort with lights flashing. Stopped briefly in front of Duncan and then took off.

Ditto but early 80's. One night had a few brews (maybe one too many). I played the double five and a few plays later played it again (actually a 5/4 with another dot "chalked" in the middle to make the second double five). Somehow, no one noticed but if I tried that now, I might get shot. Times have changed.

Beating #2 Texas in 79. Horns went from Cotton to Sun and were blown out by Maryland. Is was a great ending to a lackluster season.

2003 (I think) we did Bevo burn. We cooked a whole steer on a homemade rotating spit that we fabricated in the driveway.

Cooked all night long and had a huge line. We were giving away plates and had a donation box if you were so inclined. Raffled off the hide with the 13-0 brand on it.

Yell Leaders came by to get a bite before heading into Kyle.

Getting to meet Mr Chicken in his office. ******* buddies made me get the dominos and had to turn in fake id since we were drinking beer. Got a personal escort to the office with Ernest Tubb serenading me, "Good Night Irene…."

Watching the 74-72 7-overtime win over LSU is my favorite Texas A&M/Bryan-College Station memory. I was in Section 345 on the 3rd deck for that game and had a great view of the most incredible game I've ever seen in person.
