Looks like today is the day we possibly know if Ainias will be declaring for the draft. If he chooses to declare is there a way for him to delay the announcement? Or would his name appear somewhere online?

Fingers crossed he stays for selfish reasons.

Draft dodger?
I'll allow it.

Don't feel to selfish. NIL package won't leave him starving while he rebuilds his draft status.

Does he have to declare? He is already eligible for the draft.

This deadline is for underclassman.

He has much longer.

I don't think he has to make some big declaration because he is a Senior. I think he just has to let the NFL know if he is returning to school. He may or may not post something on social media but he doesn't have to really do anything publicly.

One of my all time favorite players. Would love to see him wear the maroon and white one last time.

Edit: A season's worth of one last time I guess...

I hope he comes back. He is a difference maker and a good person. Also great parents. Glad he is an Aggie.

Shouldn't the title be:

Last day to declare for draft - "Ainias Smith Watch"

And then post a link to his Twitter?!

I would love to see both of the guys come back for another year. Sub Zero can rehab the injury and have a big year with Conner and see his draft stock go up.

Annias has ham strung by the offensive and the lack of good short yardage back. His performance against LSU was huge, because the Tigers were not able to load up the box. The League has no respect for running backs on draft day, but his speed makes him special. I would love to see him skip spring practice and just work on track.

If he hasnt done it by now, he's not going to. At least thats how my brain works.

Hoping he sticks around 1 more year, busts his ass, and is a top pick next year.

Think you're talking about two different players. Ainias ain't Achane and Achane ain't Ainias.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

NIL > Late round draft pick
How do you know?

Rookie base salary minimum is $700K in 2022.

I'll go out on a limb & say NOBODY at Texas A&M, in ANY sport, is getting that amount of money.

Does anyone even know what the AVERAGE NIL deal is? Look it up.

Of course they're not, it's probably closer to taking a couple of zero's off...

if declares either late round or UFA if he doesn't make a team then NIL is likely more

NFL doesn't pay if you go undrafted. He may get a FA tryout but I'd be really surprised if he was drafted.
I like the guy but he missed most of 2022 and doesn't exactly have elite game film. Not sure if he could impress enough at pro day/combine to get picked.

If you make the team you get paid well
Guys get paid to come to camp but training camp tackling dummy is probably less than NIL

Not sure what practice squad guys make

I agree. This is a case of a player that's really hard not to like and seeing him through maroon tinted glasses. I doubt Ainias has any football left after college.

I like him a lot as a college player, but I agree that if we are realistic about him then he may have a limited NFL career. He doesn't have any elite measurables. I personally think he's a plus route runner and has pretty good footwork with the ball in his hands. He probably won't blow the doors off in a 40, he's a smaller guy, has decent hands.

I think a lot of things have to go right for him in terms of system for him to end up being a true impact every down slot guy in the NFL. I think his ceiling is Jamison Crowder who in all honesty has put together a more than adequate NFL career. He might be a good return man.

Would be great to have him back in the locker room for 2023.

Ainias wouldn't string us along to the very last day and say "I'm going to the nfl". He is staying. He sees what we all see in The CW.

well, that site is designed to promote the positives of players and sell them that the NFL is just a draft pick away.

Here's what they said about Wydermyer, and their prediction wasn't even close

Quote:

Wydermyer had a consistently productive college career in Texas where he put up good numbers and looks to be an excellent receiving tight end, especially over the middle on intermediate routes. He however is not a polished blocker, and does lack a little speed to be considered a high pick - is like a poor man's Kyle Pitts.

He still is likely to have a good NFL career and put up decent numbers as a mid-range threat and a red-zone specialist. He likely will squeeze into the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft

Hard to take the profile seriously when it doesn't even mention coming back from injury.

inexcusable that we suspended him that many games for wearing arm sleeves
