Wasn't Addazio also on a 1 year contract? Couldn't imagine what the performance threshold would be to entice a renewal, but I can't imagine he reached it.

I'm wondering if Jimbo already had this planned or if this is Petrino's doing. If it was Petrino's doing is he going to have full range to hire his own coaches on the offense side?

We will see. Only thing I can think of os he is still regarded as one of the best OL coaches and we had so many injuries as well as Adazio having serious health issues that prevented him from coaching.

Petrino should bring in a few of his guys for cohesive reasons.

That's what I would say if I were Jimbo too. I bet the position coaches also decide whether or not to bench guys for wearing arm sleeves.

Uh, didn't Owens just give very high compliments for Coach Robinson right after he committed?

I guess we give Addazio the pass this year. But the 5-7 season started with the O line play, it was easily our biggest weakness.

If Addazio stays, it might need to be on another 1 year contract. And the expectation on improvement next season's gotta be pretty significant.

I assume we'll hear a decision soon enough.

If he sticks around it better be a 1 year deal. I'm sure we will know for sure soon enough.

Didn't we have like a thousand yard back every year since coached and year before last almost 2 (Achane had 900). My biggest beef was not staying with the hot back, always going to number 1 back.

Yes but go look at rotation since he's been here. Last year was the only year we had a 2 back rotation. And I 200% agree he stuck with the #1 despite evidence saying he shouldn't.

I am not very disappointed by Jimob Fisher's decision to part ways with running backs coach Tommie Robinson becasue he did not rotate running backs as often as he should. Hopefully, Bobby Petrino will hire a good running backs coach that will fit in with his offensive system.

Also the RB blitz pick-up has been abysmal the last couple of years. Almost as much to blame as the terrible line play in getting our QB's killed.

Because we ran too few plays. Our offense is so slow, Achane never even averaged 20-25 touches.

i felt like previously they had. this year it was all
achane all the time but can you blame him ? we had games where we ran 40 plays on offense. and we needed anyone who could take it to the house because we couldn't sustain drives. i feel like this could go either way but he seemed to be a pretty good recruiter and we have had good backs lately so not sold either way.

Definitely did not rotate RB's enough. Young Rb,'s should like this move. And if Addazio is sick he should retire.

What were his health issues, I don't recall hearing about this. Did it cause him to miss practice/games?

A year ago Texags was in full meltdown because Spiller was taking away valuable carries from Achane. Then Achane gets all the carries and we need to sack the RB coach for not splitting the load. Oh well.

Robinson can coach but we're kinda a dumpster fire right now. I hope Petrino's install goes quicker/better than I think. His rep as a playcaller will be a GRAND CANYON sized leap in the positive direction. He is also very prostyle which can take a while...not sure anyone has much time around our place.

You can think Achane should have gotten a bigger share of the carries two seasons ago and think Achane shouldn't have gotten all of the carries last season. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

This one is confusing

Irony w Steve A....solidly recruited a very good OL this year (and all praised him - best HS 'group' of the class ... not individuals, but overall group avg. and numbers). Apparently the current OL groups like him, but don't really know how much is true or not (heresay?).

While everyone gets onto JF about doing too much and OC, he leans heavily on assts in game planning (Dickey was heavily involved in wkly game planning and scripting), position sets/groups, etc etc....lots of layers to the soap opera in the background (that's maybe changing).
