Evans needed a big game for his career numbers

I believe he's up to 81 career TD receptions now

Glad to see Kirk having a great season after some people trashed him getting a big new contract.

Mike Evans is having the quietest HOF run in history. He was a lone bright spot on several bad bucks teams then when Brady arrived he was overshadowed by other big personalities like Gronk and Antonio Brown. I remember commentators making the statement when Brown was released that Brady wouldn't have any playmakers to throw to and my jaw dropped. He is almost never mentioned when the talking heads are reviewing the top receivers in the league.

But Kirk was a bust on FF team. Had him for most of the season but rarely started him. Mostly due to lack of to catches.

This has not been a HOF trajectory year for Mike Evans, he's been one of the biggest disappointments in the league at his position before yesterday's outburst. He caught a TD Week 1 and 2 more in Week 4, then did not catch a TD for 11 straight games. 3 touchdowns in 14 games for your #1 WR playing with the GOAT QB is terrible.

Before yesterday he had exactly 2 games with 100+ yards receiving this year. He came into the game with 917 yards receiving in 14 games, that's 65.5 per game. Well below HOF credentials. Apparently he and Brady don't have a lot of chemistry on the field for some reason.

It was a secret Santa gift from Chris Godwin, Evans says the WR group does it every year.

Wow...3 touchdowns for the year before yesterday? yeah that is very low for your #1 receiver. I hope he has a better year next year. He is a special talent...

Mike doesn't throw the ball to himself, genius. Brady has had about the worst year of his career, and in spite of that, Evans still goes over 1k yards. Don't know why you'd bash Evans on a post about his 9th consecutive 1k yard season, accomplishing a feat none have met before. And he went off in a game the Bucs HAD to win to secure a playoff spot. I'd call that clutch.
People think I'm an idiot or something, because all I do is cut lawns for a living.

It was a clutch game, but he's had a down season. That's not bashing him, it's looking at his stats this year vs. previous years and his stats against his contemporaries in the league. Not sure why you're so upset about it. By your logic, shouldn't Brady be praised for Mike's successes if you're going to trash him for Mike's struggles?

And it's nine straight to start a career, which is a fantastic accomplishment. But Jerry Rice did it for 14 and Randy Moss for 10. Not taking anything away from Evans, just getting the facts right.

Jerry Rice had 1000 yards 14 times and less than 1000
8 seasons including his first when he played all 16 games. So he didn't even start his career with 1000.

Evans is the only WR to start his career with 9 straight.

I have Mike Evans on my fantasy team, and he's been having a down year statistically. Yes, he has caught 77 passes for 1,124 yards, but he had only caught 3 touchdown passes before Sunday's game. He caught 1 touchdown pass in Week 1 and 2 more in Week 4. Then, he went for 11 straight games without catching a touchdown pass until catching 3 touchdown passes this past Sunday.

The Evans/Brady combo was horrific for like five weeks prior to Sundays game. They could hardly get anything in sync but then both went clutch on Sunday. Rooting for them to keep it up in the playoffs.

with regard to the Hall of Fame...Evans needs to keep building his counting numbers.

definitely needs to reach 90 TD catches...and perhaps ideally reach 100

Moss had 6 straight to start his career and 10 total with 6 years of less than 1000. Both rice and moss stayed a long time. Not sure Evans wants to be around at 38 going for 400 yards a year. But he is already a HOF wide receiver.

It will be interesting to see what types of numbers the current crop of WRs have and what is consider HOF worthy.

I don't know if his numbers will or won't be good enough, but his market doesn't help (but winning Super Bowl does).

He's been a great receiver.
