Sark is doing what he did at previous stops as HC. No big surprise.

In 8 seasons prior to this one, Sark has only won more than 8 games once. He won 9 games his first season at USC.

That's what tu is going to get with Sark, middling to descent at times.
And I say that with the full knowledge that we were pitiful this year.

TU fired Herman for winning 8 games per year and going 4-0 in bowls. We have extension $95 mil guaranteed for same results.

He also didn't have a losing season nor lose to a G5 team.

But the 2012 Cotton Bowl was a top ten matchup, and would've been a NY6 had the system existed then, if that's what you're hung up on.

Agreed, the 2012 season and cotton bowl victory over OU is at least as equal to the 2020 covid season and orange bowl victory over North Carolina

A great many of us in burnt orange did too. I can only assume some behind the scenes stuff was going on with Herman because firing him in favor of Sark over W-L never made any sense. That and if he didn't have major baggage and a bad reference from his last job I think he would've gotten a pretty solid G5 HC gig or a top OC gig immediately, not FAU three years later.

Sark could hypothetically work out nonetheless, but I'm not holding my breath.

They didn't fire Tom for Sark. They fired him because they were convinced Urban was going there. Sark was a backup to the backup plan.

They played footsie with Urban at the end of the season, nothing came of it, Urban to Jacksonville happened, and the AD came out and said Herman was our coach. Then in January it was announced all at once that Herman was out and Sark was in. They fired Herman in favor of Sark, for whatever reason.

Sark has them trending in the right direction, and has a top recruiting class coming in next year (including some players that we really wanted). Given their roster, TCU is probably one and done. Baylor is trending in the wrong direction, and OU just finished the season with a losing record.

Texas is set up for some good success the next couple years before they come to the SEC. Sark will have to try really hard to screw it up (although having two 5 star QB on the roster is not really a good thing, IMHO).

Does it matter? Sark is there until the SEC jump then he's fired for a splash hire

And don't forget, the media was there saying it was a home run hire.

sark has coached at USC, washington, and Texas and has never won double digit games. let that sink in for a minute. dude is a good oc and a very average head coach. i have my popcorn ready for 2023 when the drama that is ewers and manning unfolds. all i know is they better win and win early or they are going to have major problems next season.

Don't they go on the road to Bama next year?

I'm guessing Bama won't get a couple dozen penalties called on them at home.

So there's an early season loss.

Now compare SEC vs OOC opponents and record. Sumlin feasted on G5 teams. I know... I know... App St... blah blah blah...

Jimbo didn't play an OOC in 2020, but Jimbo did face teams ranked #1 and #2 like Clemson in his OOC.

Quit bowing up about the Orange Bowl*. 2012 Cotton Bowl team is probably the best team we've ever fielded.

They fired Tom as he was a complete jackass. Too many bad stories out there about him.
However, this post reminds me of how Brian Kelly sucks and will never win at LSU.
I have no idea if Sark will be a top coach at Texas or not. Appears it takes more than 5 years to see how a coach is going to do!!

Kelly was at least successful at previous stops.

Sark has always been a 0.500 coach.

So his first season was his best? Then as the left over players moved on and Kliff left he was exposed....Is that what you are telling me? Fisher built to the 2020 season at least. I have yet to see Jimbo lose 59-0 or blow a 5 score lead.

All with Sherman's recruits, except whatever true fish may have contributed. Such a waste of breath (figuratively) to argue this. Sumlin is long gone and Fisher is locked in place for AT LEAST another season. Let's hope he can elevate his results in line with his salary and past success, before we get back on the "can't miss coach" carousel to hire another dude who's (clearly, in hindsight) all too human and flawed.

When weren't the horns "set up for success " all of these things were true this year and they still couldn't manage to make it to the B12 champ game ahead of Kansas State and TCU.

Ok

Sumlin 21-19 in first 5 seasons in the SEC, Jimbo 23-18 in five seasons in the SEC.

2 more SEC wins but also a loss to App State, kind of cancels out if you ask me

They both have one great season and 4 mediocre seasons, the only difference is that Jimbo got a 6th year after doing that and he went 5-7
