is really going all in on Jimbo. They must really have an axe to grind. In the end, all we have is our inner circle.

Some of the excerpts (not going to give them publicity by posting the article):

--
"It's been a weird past year for Fisher, 57. A year ago and almost to the day of the 100-year anniversary of the birth of A&M's revered "12th Man" tradition, Fisher backed out of playing Wake Forest in the Gator Bowl rather than risk a loss while relying on a good chunk of walk-ons against the Demon Deacons.

Fisher primarily blamed the COVID-19 pandemic but it was a combination of opt-outs, injuries and at least one notable suspension, along with positive COVID tests, prompting the prideful coach to refuse to face Wake Forest, in the end costing A&M more than $5 million in a bowl payout."

--
"Fisher's program, loaded with youth in his fifth season based on his inability to develop the talent he'd brought on campus in his first few years, was then hit hard by injuries early in 2022 along with Fisher's overall lack of discipline and control of his program."

This is typical media hatchet job on A&M. it's ongoing!! Love your wild opinion

These sports writers that are so anti-Jimbo are a joke. It's clear they are trying to push a false narrative to advance their favorite recruiting efforts at A&M's expense. Pay them no attention.

Here is another...

"Meantime, a year ago SEC West rival LSU, with 38 scholarship players available for the Texas Bowl, dutifully took its lumps in a 42-20 loss to Kansas State in NRG Stadium. The Tigers followed with an SEC West title in coach Brian Kelly's first year..."

What do you expect them to say? (This was Brent Z, btw, who is not wrong here.)

The media ran all over Kirk Ferentz, Scott Frost (fired), and many others all year.

Fisher underperformed after running his mouth all off-season.

So when "the media" writes that Jimbo had "a weird year", and as we sit here on 12/27, has not produced a path forward, what exactly are you butthurt about?

I mean, Texas got absolutely destroyed by the media when they went 5-7 last time. If anything, A&M is getting it pretty lightly.

Are there actually goofballs here who think that Jimbo was going around running his mouth all summer? I understand that some of you would have preferred that he tucked his tail between his legs in deference to King Saban while he was busy telling blatant lies about our program. But unlike some of you, he actually has balls and because the season was a total crapfest that doesn't change the facts, just the narrative

20ag07,
Why is it everytime someone mentions the media and the way in which they talk about Jimbo Fisher you literally come out of nowhere to post a defense of the media.
Literally like clockwork.
Like the sun rising in the east.
I guess it's obvious what industry you work in.
Even when they're wrong..you come out of the woodwork to try and justify everything they say.

^^^^ thank you. (Tamuco99)

The narrative being put forth by every half assed "journalist" out there was that Jimbo was running his mouth about Saban all summer and instigating some kind of big controversy. Has Saban just kept our damn name outta his mouth, Jimbo would've never said a word about him. I think there was a level of respect there before little Nicky got all butthurt about not being able to cherry pick everybody he wanted and OMG actually losing a couple of head to head battles with little peon A&M in the recruiting wars. That plus getting his butt handed to him after his snarky little "in golf?" comment and dear leader was probably humiliated. Therefore the "paid his entire team" comment while laughably claiming that "we didn't pay anybody". However, bc it's Saban the media bought it hook, line and sinker and went all in on Jimbo like he instigated the whole thing. I was proud of Jimbo for firing back and don't hold one thing against him for it. But in doing so he put a media bullseye on his back. You don't disrupt the blue-blood status quo and get away with it

True. I've seen Fisher sullied much worse on here. I actually agree that this slide began with a Ho-hum finish to the 21 season followed by us bailing on the bowl game. It crossed my mind last night when an OSU player made a great play intercepting a pass in the end zone. He hadn't played in a game all year. I just felt like we were making excuses.

texags is the only place that can absolutely **** all over a top tier coach PUBLICLY, and then blame the coach when he loses the locker room to a bunch of 18 your old social media experts. TEXAGS won't blame themselves for telling the players to not trust the coach. NO NO NO. Never. It's Jumbo's fault, not ours.

People aren't defending the media so much as they're calling out all you kool aid drinking jokers who refuse to admit to yourselves how badly Jimbo screwed up. Liucci himself said the only reason Fisher wasn't fired is b/c of the idiotic contract we gave him.
TXAGBQ76
How long do you want to ignore this user?
So, if every single person TexAgs shouts "Jimbo screwed up!" from the rooftops, does it make the season more palatable, do we get any more wins, can the hundreds of "Jumbo sucks" threads go away? While I agree 2022 was a horrible season and things need to change, I'm not sure how everyone repeating basically the same words changes anything. Whether they chose to admit or not, deep down we all all know the truth about the season.

You can't be that dense. Texags is to blame for the football team's problems? Instead of Jimbo? Seriously?

And I don't think Jimbo is considered a top tier coach at the moment.

The big question nobody in the media who has been bashing Fisher wants to answer is what if he turns things around next season?
What excuses and reasons will they give for their incessant Jimbo bashing if A&M starts winning?
Everyone on Texags and mainstream/ social media has gone COMPLETELY down a rabbit hole of no return with the constant JIMBO SUCKS narrative. Despite the fact that Jimbo Fisher has been coaching for decades and has a Natty and an overall good won-loss record.
Yet ....because of ONE SEASON of 5-7...and his big contract...Jimbo suddenly "sucks".
Gonna be a TON of HYPOCRITES on here and the media if A&M turns it around next year...all acting like they never doubted Fisher.

He only had one NY6 bowl game.

And yes, if he turns it around, who will give a **** about the negative press coverage, especially when said negative press coverage may have forced Jimbo to make big changes to his staff?

Fisher sucked last year. Fisher sucked the year before. If he turns it around, great. It won't change that he sucked in 2022 and 2021 and totally deserves all of the criticism he is currently getting. Most coaches would not get the chance at redemption. Jimbo just got a ridiculous contract, so he is still here.

are you 3? Jimbo has the big contract, he can defend himself. He lost the team this year and that's on him. If he turns it around he deserves all the credit for it. It goes both ways and every coach knows this. But nobody has to eat crow for bashing him THIS year. He is getting what any coach gets when they go 5-7 off a preseason top 10. He's a big boy, he can handle it.

The "big question"?!?!

The "media" (in this case, a beat writer whose job is to pump out multiple articles a week about the program), is not just going to write "what if" articles. He's going to write about the program as it sits today. And what the path forward AS IT SITS TODAY, is. Nothing that was said was untrue.

Brent was plenty complimentary of Jimbo when things were going well. (He was the first to leak the potential hire by the way). And there's criticism when things aren't going well. Which they aren't.

That's literally the job of a beat writer.

Mel Tucker, James Franklin, all these guys with huge guaranteed contracts and bad seasons took criticism all over the place.
