Any thoughts about the non Playoff Bowls in 2024? Hate to see them go but hard to envision any scenario where they survive.

Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Hamilton, Jackson, Grant. Those are a few reasons.
Again though, the business model isn't to make money packing the stands. It's to produce a 4 hour block of live sports programming for people to watch on their couch around the holidays.CraigSU84 said:

Bowl games should have been gone in 1998, and then again in 2014…hopefully, they officially die in 2024.
I'll never understand why people like watching and/or attending bowl games.
Reasonable takes. But retail interest by everyday fans in NIL will wane and without fan deals there might not be deals connecting athletes to schools. Think Stacked here.one safe place said:
Run of the mill bowl games (many of the bowls) and sub-par bowl games (crud bowls) might wind up dying a slow death. With expanded playoffs, NIL concentrating talent over fewer teams, I don't see the appeal to a bunch of games that pit a team with an 8-4 record against one with a 7-5 or 6-6 record. Unless, of course, you went to one or the other.

Follow the money. Espn owns the rights of most of these bowl games, not including the Sun Bowl. This was done when Espn was buying up all sports related content and of course they overpaid. I don't know how long each of these contracts are and its crazy watching some of these games with dozens and dozens of fans in the stands. China hasn't produced enough material needed for the tarps that would be there.
I'll never understand football "fans" who complain about having too much college football on TV to choose from._lefraud_ said:

I agree, and several of those games have been very entertaining and competitive.Harry Lime said:I'll never understand football "fans" who complain about having too much college football on TV to choose from._lefraud_ said:

What product has anyone bought b/c of an A&M athletes' NIL?
Anyone? Anyone?
Biggest NIL winners will continue to be female athletes.

There are lots of fans that support their particular University but are not " College Football Fans "Harry Lime said:I'll never understand football "fans" who complain about having too much college football on TV to choose from._lefraud_ said:
