regarding coach Prime head coaches taking better jobs have different expectations
I think the rules are different for coordinators and position coaches
If we offered the best OL coach in the country the OC job I doubt him taking that job and announcing would affect his ability to coach in his bowl game.

This is what I was thinking. However, most don't believe it because that would mean we would have to take a hit in our recruiting.

Personally, I think it's a good idea to do so if it means getting a great OC, but the concerns are admittedly reasonable.

We'll just have to wait and see how it goes.

It's not an issue of benefit to us. It's an issue of contractual obligations. Do you want A&M to get sued for tortious inference of contract? We have to wait until it's contractually okay to make the hire. .

It's going to be on Jimbo to sell the recruits based on his coaching chops. He's up for that task. Jimbo can sell snow to an Eskimo. He can say this year was a one off and point to his overall winning percentage, his national championship and the plethora of guys he's put into the league.

At this juncture of time where there won't be an OC for the first signing day it seems likely whoever the eventual OC will be is going to have an uphill battle. It's going to be hard to win over the fanbase until the season actually starts.

Give me an example of when this has happened. Why isn't Colorado getting sued by Jackson st? Oregon sueing Arizona st? Cincy sueing Wisc? Why didn't bama sue Tessus for the hire of Sark? I could go on. All these guys were announced prior to their respective teams finishing their bowl season.

This is a wishful argument to make it seem like we have our ducks in a row when we don't.

I disagree. See: Brian Kelly. He was 5th in the CFP rankings with ND and when he was hired by LSU... he left.

You think the guy calling plays doesn't end up with a rub against the players he faces?!

Even more so, for Prime Time is Colorado. They have 10 players in the Portal. 4 of them are QBs and the starting QB for much of the season was a SR Sr. He is bringing his own QB. Probably Turner and a handful of others.

But the players on Colorado right now are in for a rude situation when Prime suddenly shows up to let them know the trapdoor is open. The same reason people think we need to announce the coach are the same ones that would complain that he was still coaching his old team and not recruiting for us.

NSD is on Tuesday and the Portal is open. Players in the Portal get to see what their options are.

Pretty sure the main target is sitting on one of his ranches counting his money.

Dan Lanning was name Oregon HC and still maintain coaching duties for Georgia throughout CFP

Lane Kiffin and Sark announced they were leaving but still coached the national championship game. It happens all the time. I don't think we have a candidate in the playoffs or in a bowl.
