Letting him get away was one of RC's biggest mistakes.

Since Purdue's starting QB is opting out of the bowl against LSU they need all the help they can get.

BOWL INTEGRITY!!

Coming from NBC sports, that feels like a lateral move.

well, money-wise it's probably a pretty significant backward move. But if he wants to do it more, he probably has more money than he will probably ever need, so good for him.

I give RC a pass. He wasn't the only one that let him get away. It's not like every other elite program was knocking down his door. (yes, I do know that Drew would have come here in a heartbeat)
Let's go, Brandon!

It is just for the bowl period. He does have an exception allowing him to recruit.

All RC needed to know was Drew had Akins blood in him. Any football aficionado in Texas knows what that means. Should have been enough to bring him here. Saying this jokingly of course with the benefit of hindsight.

Brees would have been a hell of an insurance salesman after college.

Shawn Slocum left him on hold too long.

Odd. If I had his NFL money, I would make it my mission to never to get stuck in West Lafayette, IN for more than one night.

Brees wasn't tall enough to be an NFL quarterback. His arm wasn't the best, he was immobile, and so on.

I think a lot of star players make bad coaches because they were born with something that most of those they're coaching will never have. Brees isn't that guy. He was able to read and react to NFL defenses like few others (didn't watch him much in college).

I will be interested to see if this continues into anything past the bowl game.

If I recall, back in the day, it had to do with grades, in that he wasn't eligible to attend moreso than passing on him or not offering him.

He was pretty awful on tv, so not surprising to see him exploring other opportunities

No, that's incorrect. It wasn't because of Brees' grades. It was because most college football coaches thought he was too small to be a big-time qb, and that his high school stats were inflated due to the scheme they ran. Obviously, just about everybody was wrong.

RC doesn't get a pass. He was a natural passer and RC was stuck in a predictable offensive philosophy that cost us a lot of big games, and quite possibly a chance at playing in one or two title games. In this day and age he would've been run outta town much sooner for it.

I really enjoyed him beating the hell out of Kansas state after they fell all the way from national championship game to Alamo bowl after the Ags comeback.

The team thay needed to lose for them to make it had already lost and the game was over until Bishop fumbles.

Wish we could hire some alumni like Tannehill, Von, Evans, Garrett when they get out of the league some amazing NFL careers there

No it wasn't, RC was never going to throw the ball 30-50 times a game- which Tiller did at Purdue.

RC as in R.C. Slocum, right? It's just....sounding kind of familiar...and..um..just want to make sure we are still talking about the past.

He would show up at our practices as a little boy. He followed grandpa around during 2 a days. We never thought anything about it. Now, it's pretty cool to think about.

And probably one of the biggest blessings for Brees. Because had he come to A&M, 0% chance he has anywhere close to the college career that put him in the NFL to become one of the top 10 QB's of all time.
