It was amazing. AFR because we'll lose one or two to UC. My favorite quote, "those who don't want it get to portaling because when I come back I'm bringing luggage with me. Kids that are ready. Hungry. And winners."

I'm thinking he is him and I would have not said that a year or two ago.

I didn't realizes how disciplined he is. Apparently has never drank alcohol or done any drugs.

Told the UC players, "I know what the vibe is here. What's been allowed legally. It's made the program lazy. Embarrassing for 20 years. Next meeting when I'm back….no hats. No earrings. No headphones around your neck."

He is serious.

Who is this man and what has he done with Deion Sanders????

But seriously, good for him then. I was watching the video, and some kid in the back immediately took his hat off after Deion said that.

I know it's no longer fashionable to believe, but the actual words you use when communicating still matter.

If you want to challenge a team of individuals, you tell them that every position is open and they will have to fight for playing time, but that the slate is clean and everyone will get the same opportunity to prove themselves.

You don't tell them you are bringing "luggage" that's better than they are, and they should hit the portal. That's not a challenge; that's insinuating that they won't get a fair shake.

You don't say "here's your new quarterback" when introducing your son and then throw in as an afterthought, "He'll have to earn it." Does anyone really believe that? You've already tipped your hand.

The media will give Sanders a pass every time but I think his act is going to wear thin quickly.

the bolded part I agree with 100%.

The part about brining the "luggage" I dont fully agree. I think he was making the point to tell the current players they better be ready to compete, because their current starting roles aren't protected. The "luggage" he's bringing are trasnfers and recruits that will be there to compete for jobs. Not necessarily a slap in the face to the current players on the team, but more a warning that if they aren't ready to work, and compete then GTFO.

Except that we both interpret it differently, and all over Twitter there are people interpreting it differently and arguing. So his message really wasn't very clear -- some think he was awesome and inspiring, and others think he was showing a lack of respect to the team he's supposed to be leading.

He's made a career of being a showman, but there's a reason most coaches -- of all races and backgrounds -- are more reserved and thoughtful about how they communicate.

So disciplined that - when he was a coach at Trinity Christian Cedar Hill - out of nowhere his team had like 11 D1 players. In addition to TCCH getting busted for cheating in basketball, TAPPS kicked the school out of the league.

They went 1-11 this year and haven't had more than five wins in a season since 2016. I don't think he's too worried about who he runs off.

That also happens in public schools. And I don't think he shoulders the blame for academics there. Even as co-founder, I don't think they put him in charge of curriculum.

"We've got a few positions taken care of already, 'cause I'm bringing my luggage with me."

"go ahead and jump into the portal... cause we're bringin' kids."

"the more of you that leave, opens up that many more spots."

That isn't a challenge to "Man Up" or saddle up... it is "here is the door let me help you out of here."

That will play well for some. Not for most. Sanders is going to let as many enter the TP as wants and will pack the "luggage" of many more that he doesn't want there.

LOTS of kids are going to be displaced without a place to go and we'll see how that works long-term for "Trap Door" Sanders.

when prime prep was dissolved the students were so far behind that several of the school who absorbed the students were also closed by state accountability because of the dragging test scores of the transfers.

Of course he isn't.

But his approach won't change just because this meeting is over. There will be plenty of future opportunities for him to alienate people around the program and across the Pac-12 with his mouth.

Maybe he won't. I could be wrong. And like I said earlier, the media will give him a pass every time. But it seems like a bad fit.

why would he care if the players don't like what he said?!?!

seriously, they are one of the worst power 5 programs in the entire country- likely they are literally the very worst

he probably wants every one of those players to leave so he can recruit and portal in 60 new players!

I wonder if he'll be able to make over the fans as well. Because like their football team, they are easily the worst in the country.
