Worst losing streak in 50 years ended with 2-game winning streak - including beating the crap out of this year's SEC West Division Champion.... coupled with the undeniable fact that our pass defense was, in fact, ranked #1 in CFB (I know that was partially due to our also having one if the worst run defenses in CFB) might have salvaged our recruiting and even allowed an opportunity to pull out of the tailspin we were in (highlighted by Anthony Hill decommitment).

Still might have a chance to reel Hill back in and perhaps surprise with some flips. Look at Tony Mitchell's latest Twitter post - as it appears he is coming back to College Station for one last visit. Might Hill also be in town at the same time?

I suppose ONE benefit of not having to get ready for the Independence or Texas Bowl is the opportunity for coaching staff to focus all their efforts (in addition to keeping current players out of the portal) on the full court press in selling "the future" to high school kids who want to join the undeniable talent we pulled in last year.

Perhaps Jimbo and company can close strong once again...

Regardless of season...I am surprised Lindbackers are not begging to play for us. The DL is managing with a 3 man front...and most are true freshman.

If I am an offensive player i'd be laughing at A&M when they call.

get anthony hill back and add tony mitchell and this is a really strong but small class. add 7-8 from the portal with 3-4 offensive lineman and this will be a really good class all things considered.

I'd agree but Weigman might save us there. A lot of kids know how good he is and saw a glimpse of what he can do and will want to play with him. Our offense needs some changes but if CW started the whole year and had a healthy OL that alone would have drastically changed the image of the offense. The bright side of what happened is it hopefully opened Jimbo's eyes to some changes being needed.

I disagree with you here. CW looks the part and O-line will be better (can't be worse). Offense will be much better next year.

To be fair, that's the same thing we said last year.

I agree with you that it makes sense we SHOULD be better, but after this season, I'll wait for proof.

Achane's season finale against LSU might also show RB candidates what the future could hold for them as our young OL improves next year (under new OC and likely new OL coach).

LJ Johnson's departure also opens some space for "next in line" feature backs even though we have two excellent freshman RBs who both showed flashes when finally given opportunities and appear ready to take the lead (and hopefully share the load).

Could we have a chance at flipping a RB as well? Might Love or Owens take a second look at the Aggies - especially after the new OC is named?

Would be great to get a real surge in recruiting success to help heal the obvious wounds of this disappointing season. We all recall that that school in Austin had a pretty decent recruiting class after THEY finished 5-7 last season...

If our existing OL players are healthy for 2023, we'll be pretty salty.

You add Moko, Aki, and Foster... if Williams comes back... You have a two-deep with a ton of experience.

would agree however the last two years our offensive line has been decimated by injuries so would love to add a couple vets through the portal to add depth at the bare minimum.

It is the same thing we said last year before we knew our OL would be obliterated by injuries and that our senior most explosive returning playmaker in Anais would go down early. No one would have said that if we had known those things.

No matter how strong you are at the other 8-9 defensive positions, it's impossible to effectively stop the run or pass consistently without linebackers. It's a mathematical certainty. We will look similar next season on defense unless we fix this issue with additional personnel not already on campus.

Offensively we should be better next season unless Jimbo digs in and controls the philosophy with or without a new OC.

Our team was bad this year even before all of those things happened. I'm tired of hearing how much better we are going to be next year every single year. I'm in the camp of it's time to stop talking about it until you actually do it. The reason the media jumped on us so bad was because we (Jimbo) were running our mouths all off season

Think you have to sign a true offensive coordinator before signing day and make a move or two on the defensive coaching side to get someone like Hill to come back. We have zero true LB recruits and no depth, definitely need to look at the transfer portal

We lost Matthews and another OL to Medical Retirement before Summer. Matthews was supposed to be our starting OL in 2021. He was replaced by Foster who got Mono before the season started... so, we "weren't bad even before all those things." By Game 6, we lost Foster, Moko, and Aki to season ending injuries.

Cry all you want, but staying healthy is critical to every team's success.

Jimbo and A&M wasn't running its mouth all off-season. Saban and other SEC coaches, along with many in the Sports Media were accusing A&M of NCAA violations. As a result, Jimbo jumped in to defend the program. Maybe you are in the camp to just remain silent while everyone accuses your players of being bought-and-paid-for. And that the only reason players came to A&M was to get paid.

I get it... some people will never like the coach and always root for the backup-QB. It is how you "they" are wired.

Additionally, Robinson sprained an ankle the last week of camp and was hobbled to start the year.

You said specifically that going into last season we would not have been saying those things if we knew about the injuries, but everything you mentioned was either before the season started meaning we were fully aware of who we were missing at the start of the season or happened well after it was obvious we were bad (after week 2)

This. There's no explaining away of what happened with App St because of injuries.

We'll see the difference in respective classes after equivalent seasons.

Then I want one of them to get back with me on who was truly "buying the talent"

If we finish with a top 5 class I'll happily eat my crow

Hopefully, but that school in Austin had a 5-7 season in year 1 of a new coach, not in year 5. That is a big difference. A realistic view is that capping off a bad season with a good win and if we hire an OC with potential, we can salvage a decent recruiting class and maybe get up to 10 - 12.

Is there any hope of getting Anthony Hill back or is he a sip for sure? Saw he was wearing all horn gear at TCU game and given we didn't have him at LSU, I fear we strike out again at LB. This position has to be the one we can't seem to fill lately. Transfer portal anyone?

Worthy had similar number as Stewart and Stewart had theee different QBs including not having the starter and being out with concussion. Imagine when we have CW leading the way and a new OC.

You're making excuses. Matthews hadn't proven anything and what other proven lineman was lost before the season?

Facts are facts. Fisher has not had an oline ready for the season the last two season. His FSU oline declined fast after 2013. Either he neglects the position or his recruits have difficulty executing his crap offense. The fact that he has had effective outings vs bama and LSU tells me it is him and his game prep. He fails to have his teams ready and on the same page for too many games.

I think the right new OC will fix most of these issue quickly. Someone that's an organized efficient communicator and installs an offense that is quick to grasp, helping transfers and young players to execute.
