Going a month without a home game

With all the finger pointing regarding the season, no one seems to remember this SEC debacle. No one should ever be faced with 3 SEC games in a row playing away. Then the self imposed Arkansas nuetral game, this was a season killer before the season ever started. Maybe an experienced team, experienced QB, etc. could plow through it, but that wasn't us.

Bookies give extra points to teams that have to play 2 home games in a row. How about 4 SEC road games in a row? Lots to over-come. Someone let me know if they have ever seen another SEC team face that before and if it ever did, how did that work out for them?

Lost to App State at home, season was over before that stretch

The long road trip prevented us from possibly righting the ship ,
One more win and we are speculating about Crappy bowl destination
Crappy bowl not awesome , off-season coming before 12/1 is much worse

I mean, it was a neutral site game up the road, then 2 road games, then a bye week, then another road game.

Unfortunate, but not a herculean challenge to overcome… and aside from SC I don't think the venue swung the outcomes of any of those games.

Hopefully that schedule doesn't happen again. Next season looks like we have all those home in a row. Jimbo needs to talk to the effer making the schedules.

You are downplaying our obvious victimhood. Next you'll say BAS is self-loathing…

This. Everybody in the locker room knew who should have been given a shot to win that game in the second half and it didn't happen. Make the change, squeak out a win there and who knows how the season goes.

You d*** right there. We were a couple of accurate passes from winning that game easily.

Ya, but two things can be true at the same time. Saying the App State loss was crushing is true but also saying the month away from Kyle Field stunted the growth of the freshmen is true.

Home field advantage was more significant this year than previous years. LSU is prime example of that, beating Bama and almost beating Tenn.

I agree the month away hurt.

It was actually 6 weeks between home games, not 4. Yes we lost to App State, but it was criminal what the SEC did to A&M. You get better early in the season at home, but by the time we got back this team was completely off track.

The season started with 3 straight home games, and then a neutral site game nearby. There were only 4 true road games all season. The schedule included SHSU, UMass, and App State, all at home, and should have all been layups.

I'm a Tech fan, and I don't usually try to pick a fight over here, but scheduling isn't what did you guys in. A week 2 loss at home to App State (who lost to James Madison, Texas State, Coastal, Marshall, and Georgia Southern) showed there were already problems well before the road trip.

We started with 3 straight home games before going 6 weeks until our next game on 10/29. That is because we played a neutral site game against Arkansas and 3 consecutive true road games in a span of 4 weeks. Even if we had played Arkansas at Kyle Field, we still would have gone for 5 weeks between home games. This schedule was worse than 2018 when we went for 5 weeks between home games against Kentucky on 10/5/2018 and Ole Miss on 11/10/2018.

I knew that a long road stretch would be very challenging, but the problems began in a Week 2 loss to Appalachian State at home. We beat Arkansas before going 0-3 in road games at Mississippi State, Alabama, and South Carolina. I had expected us to right the ship in consecutive SEC home games against Ole Miss and Florida, but those back to back home losses further exposed the problems. Then, we lost a very winnable road game at Auburn.

Next year's schedule will be much more balanced. We will not play consecutive games away from Kyle Field even once. No SEC team should have to play more than 2 consecutive conference games away from home. Next year, Arkansas will play 4 consecutive games away from home without a bye week.

Yes, LSU beat Alabama 32-31 in overtime, but they did not even compete with Tennessee at home. Tennessee throttled LSU 40-13 in Baton Rouge. Still, home field advantage was very significant this year. I think Mississippi State is the best example of that. Mississippi State went 6-1 at home, and their only home loss was a 45-19 blowout loss to Georgia. In contrast, Mississippi State went just 2-3 in road games and did not win a SEC road game until beating Ole Miss 24-22 in the Egg Bowl on Thanksgiving.

I'm with OP. Anyone heard an explanation of how that happened? I know the Arky game was techimcally a home game.

But surely our AD isn't that easily RUN OVER?

We gave away a home game when we agreed to play Arky in Dallas. This is not an SEC problem.

The game in DFW in opposition to the Red River Rivalry ceded to the SEC conference office the ability to resolve contractual disputes. Are you sure Slive and Sankey didn't put the proverbial thumb on the scale? Are you sure Sankey wasn't punishing us for failing to sit down and shut up over the 2020 cfp diss and the 2021 mbb diss?

UGa plays UF every year at a neutral site pretty sure neither of those teams ever went 6 weeks between home games
Same for tu & the land thieves

two things can be right at the same time.

A&M's season was effectively over after the App State loss

and the SEC did hose the Ags with the conference schedule
W
How long do you want to ignore this user?
it was crazy...

Florida played 3 home games in September

and played another 3 home games in October

before they played the neutral site game vs. UGA in Jacksonville on October 29th.

UF did some very nice scheduling last year with the league office's help

The excuse for App State is that we were exposed. Seeing our schedule for the next 4 weeks just shows what a farce rankings can be. And sunshine pumpers.

the other danger from such a month-long abstention is the tendency to cough up the ball way to0 early once the home game actually starts.
