1991: Greg Hill, a redshirt last season, carried 30 times and his 212 yards broke the Division I-A record for a freshman in his first game.

IIRC, Bucky got hurt (shoulder) in that Tulsa game and wasn't quite right when he returned later in the season. I remember he didn't look quite right when we beat Arkansas 13-3 at Kyle later in the season.

Leyland rushed for 229 yards at Tiger Stadium in an 18-13 Aggie win.
Greg Hill was last time at Kyle Field, OP for the win!

This game was a case of if it could go wrong, it went wrong. Can remember being in my 30's and attempting to throw my couch. Couch 1, SK 0....nu awlins ag said:GrapevineAg said:

Despite his injury, A&M was a way more talented team. All granger had to do was hand the ball off. As I recall, A&M had several turnovers in the 3rd quarter and Tulsa capitalized on them. This was a game where the coaches were wearing camouflage hats/shirts I believe in support of our troops.
Sorry to derail, but Rodney Thomas is top 5 favorite Aggie player for me. Hard to be a better person, gone way too soon.W said:
one thing for sure in the 90's...
A&M running backs --- whether it was Hill, Thomas, or McElroy --- feasted on LSU
they all had great games vs. the Tigers back in the day
I haven't seen too many fan bases take over the Chicken, LSU came close a couple of those times.dabo man said:
I went to the LSU games in 89, 91, and 93 and remember Kyle Field being close to full if not completely full. Part of the reason it was that way was that LSU brought about 20k fans of their own. They more or less owned the horseshoe as I recall.
I can also remember seeing an LSU RV parked in the front yard of the president's house one of those years. It couldn't have been there long, but it was just the epitome of coonass to me.
And you're right that filling Kyle Field wasn't the norm at all. For tu they would setup chairs in the south endzone, but when I was a student (1990-94), I don't think they did for any other opponent. I'd guess we averaged a little over 60k during those years.

My room mate was on the 12ht man (well, he was my room mate 88-89) but he tried out for the 12th man in the spring of 89 and was on the team for 89, 90 & 91 seasons IIRC.Justwinags said:
I was on the 12th man kickoff team that year, the first year RC made us all wear 12. Bucky tweaked the ankle against LSU so Granger was in. If Schorp could have just fallen on that onside kick…..
That team was stacked and one of our best, imo.

Do you remember a player named Torin McCoy?
I was at that game, Stanford and Bill Walsh. Pullig in as a true freshman buried deep in our own territory if I recall.nu awlins ag said:agracer said:My room mate was on the 12ht man (well, he was my room mate 88-89) but he tried out for the 12th man in the spring of 89 and was on the team for 89, 90 & 91 seasons IIRC.Justwinags said:

I believe 1990 was the last full walk-on team as my friend was on it. He has 1990 Holiday Bowl trophy or something similar. After this I believe it was one guy selected. Total crap as they normally lead the NCAA in kickoff coverage.
