Know how to win in Aggieland. He understood the Aggie culture and embraced it and he knew what it took to win at A&M. Jimbo needs to have a one on one talk with Jackie to get his thoughts on how to coach football at A&M.

Jimbo hasn't yet shown that he's interested in anyone else's opinion.
Maybe that will change.

It has nothing to do with coaching at A&M. Jimbo doesn't know how to coach, period (or has just chosen not to do it anymore)

Totally agree. Jackie put the program above his own ego and always did what was best for Aggie football. Jimbo needs to learn that same lesson.

Jackie understood the importance of the 12th Man and he always embelished it. He built his blitzing 3-4 defense to take advantage of the 12th Man and our home field advantage. Our current defense has NO IDENTITY and they give up 300-400 yards rushing on Kyle Field. Jackie brought the 12th Man kickoff team to help incorporate the fighting Texas Aggie spirit into the team. Even in this day and age of NIL and the portal, I believe most players still want to play for the school they represent and A&M is still the greatest most unique school in the world with our traditions.

OMG. You have to have the players AND coaching or you don't. Bama student body is nothing special. Kyle field is NOT a home field advantage because we can't win there and can't defend it against the Mississippis or app states. There's no "getting it" you have it or you don't and when you don't you should be fired. That's what big boy programs do. Win or be fired, there's no uniqueness to take into account.

I don't disagree with this!

You are correct, Jackie had the best players and the best coaching staff. That's why Jimbo needs to go ask Jackie what he did to be successful at A&M. Jackie knew what it took to win big at A&M and he was the most successful coach we've had by far since 1939.

It really is objective. There's nothing to "get" about a&m. Win or be fired. That's what the winners do.

Agree. Winners also don't saddle themselves with guaranteed 10 year contracts, or extensions to said contracts without first having skins on the wall.
Or give fake national title trophies at the introductory press conference when they haven't won one since before Hiroshima was nuked...AggieRob93 said:BigDave21 said:AggieRob93 said:BigDave21 said:sincereag said:

You obviously weren't around in the Jackie era, because he built a program that could play and beat anyone. He gained control of the state of Texas recruiting and had us in the top 5 in the nation and it was headed to the very top.

Fact still remains, there's no secret sauce that's needed to win here.

RC would have something to say on the subject. The only Aggie coach in recent years with hardware. Highest win % in SWC history.

And no national championship still.

The teasips and NCAA stopped him from winning a natty at A&M. And while we're on this discussion let's give Bum Bright the credit for knowing how to identify a great coach and luring him to A&M. Jackie was so damn good the sips had to turn him in to the NCAA
