October 29th will be the latest we played our first home SEC game at Kyle Field by a landslide. Below are the dates of our first SEC games at Kyle Field in previous years.
2012: September 8th vs Florida
2013: September 14th vs Alabama
2014: October 11th vs Ole Miss
2015: October 3rd vs Mississippi State
2016: October 8th vs Tennessee
2017: September 30th vs South Carolina
2018: October 6th vs Kentucky
2019: September 21st vs Auburn
2020: September 26th vs Vanderbilt
2021: October 2nd vs Mississippi State
Since 2014, we have sacrificed a home SEC game against Arkansas in every even year, except 2020 because of the contract at Jerry World. We should get 4 home SEC games at Kyle Field every year. However, even if we had played Arkansas at Kyle Field on 9/24, we still would have gone for 35 days until the next home game on 10/29. That would have meant opening the season with 4 consecutive home games, playing 3 consecutive road games in the middle 4 weeks, and ending the season with 4 home games in the last 5 weeks that sandwich the road game at Auburn on 11/12. With that said, the Arkansas vs Texas A&M game should return to the campuses.
In 2018, we went for 35 days between home games. After playing Kentucky at Kyle Field on 10/6/18, we did not have a home game until playing Ole Miss on 11/10/18. We had 3 consecutive road games in a span of 4 weeks. After we played at South Carolina on 10/13/18, we had a bye week before consecutive road games at Mississippi State on 10/27/18 and Auburn on 11/3/18. Unlike 2018, our first home SEC game isn't until 10/29.
Next year's schedule will be much more balanced. We will have home SEC games at Kyle Field against Auburn on 9/23, Alabama on 10/7, South Carolina on 10/28, and Mississippi State on 11/11. We will play at Miami on 9/9 and Arkansas at Jerry World on 9/30. We will have road SEC games against Tennessee on 10/14, Ole Miss on 11/4, and LSU on 11/25. This means we won't play back to back road games away from Kyle Field even once.
The SEC should never allow a team to go for more than 4 weeks without a home game and play their first home SEC game later than the first or second Saturday of October. Next year, Arkansas will play 4 consecutive games away from Razorbacks Stadium beginning 9/23 at LSU and without a bye week in that stretch. They will not have a home SEC game until 10/21 against Mississippi State.
