If you haven't listened todays Press Conference (pinned above) with Albert Regis do yourself a favor and listen to it.

Really rooting for this guy to have great success.

Of course, Olin had to inadvertently ask an uncomfortable question.

Olin is so wonderfully out of it sometimes.

It's one thing for the coach to be saying that stuff in your ear all the time, but when the other dudes start living it, the attitude begins to spread. Gotta love kids like that.
Look at the habitual masturbator! See how thin, pale and haggard he appears; how his eyes are sunken; how long and cadaverous is his cast of countenance; how irritable he is and how sluggish, mentally and physically; how afraid he is to meet the eye of his fellow, feel his damp and chilling hand, so characteristic of great vital exhaustion.” Dr Henry Guernsey, Plain Talks on Avoided Subjects (1882)

I was thinking: "What in the world do you need to know their names for? How does that benefit anyone in any way?"

Albert Regis seems like a role model and a leader in the making. Excellent press conference and attitude on top of an excellent game performance. I'm a big fan now.

Was just coming to post this. He should have a regular segment on the radio show!

Well, to be fair, I'm guessing he asked for completeness for an article he was planning to write.
And I can only guess that the circumstances of the uncle's death were not something Regis wanted brought up

Yes, but if they tossed him the game ball he would just swat it down with his arm…

Give me a 3 star that wants to play for Texas A&M and be an Aggie. He has the desire and determination to be the best he can be and respects his teammates and coaches. He's a winner.

This would not have been the proper forum for that. I'm not sure how OB could have produced an entire article about a person whose existence he had no prior knowledge of without speaking to Regis one-on-one for more info

Used to be a running back and tight end. Talk about a position change man.

It would have been very hard to know that was going to be an uncomfortable topic just to ask for their names (and yes I'm sure he was doing so just thinking of an article he'd write). Albert handled it well and politely declined. There was no ill will and wasn't innapropriate for Olin to ask. I have no doubt he wouldn't have asked if he had any idea it would be uncomfortable to share. I thought both handled it very well.

The interview was fantastic. His bit he shared about Elijah and his influence both on the field and off just as a person gave incredible insight into why he is such a great recruiter. Honest and caring coaches that can demonstrate a true interest in the players lives and future successes whatever path they take make great recruiters. Guarantee you momma's can see right through a fake coach when they make an in home visit.

That 3* or 5* question was insulting and stupid. Also it could have been phrased better to maybe say more/less heralded. But it doesn't matter. You are on the team on scholarship or you are not, period. In the NFL it does not matter if you played at Alabama or Troy, it does not matter if you were a 1st round pick or a 7th round pick or an UDFA, you are either an NFL player or not. Same thing here, Regis is a scholarship DL on an SEC team, yes there is competition from good teammates, but it's not like he is a walkon spare that it is a major shock he is even on the field.

As for his position coach..... Coach Robinson and Price are the backbone of our D and D recruiting. Price will probably retire from here and I am so glad he came on board with Sumlin, came back home, and it was the smartest decision Jimbo made to retain him on staff. Robinson is a B1G guy all the way but really loves it at A&M, is well paid and has more than just a DL coach title. We need to do everything we can to keep him on staff as long as possible, though at some point he will probably leave short of becoming a DC. I have been extremely impressed with our DL and in particular DT play since the day he got on campus. It was an immediate change on the D front. Coach Robinson is one of the great young DL / D coaches in the game right now.

Was the question inappropriate? Of course not. Was the question awkward and absolutely unnecessary? Without a doubt.

There's a lot of questions that are not necessary that get asked. Happens at every press conference. Necessary is relative to viewpoint. Given that it wasn't inappropriate, even though to us it seems unnecessary, I'm sure to Olin from the viewpoint of a journalist and writing an article it seems more necessary than not to improve his article. To me the names if I were reading a story about it are meaningless. Journalists often view that differently.
