People don't understand Saban's argument.
Saban's argument is schools are using NIL opportunities (paying for name, image, and likeness) to recruit players to their school.
He's not saying NIL deals once the kids get on campus are wrong - his issue isn't that.
The Bryce Young stuff is, as you say, once he was on campus. It's a silly argument to use against Saban as it's not refuting his accusation.
Of course using NIL as a recruiting tool happens - the second NIL became a thing, that was an inevitable outcome.
Saban is throwing a temper tantrum because he is coming to the realization that the "parity" of Alabama being able to wow recruits with national championship trophies on the surface and a few thousand in cash here and there under the surface isn't going to be enough anymore - and that schools like Texas A&M have beaten him to the punch at how they structure NIL, and he doesn't like the fact that he may not be the top dog for much longer.
His assertion that "Texas A&M" bought the recruits is 100% false - Texas A&M did no such thing, no more than Alabama is doing with their NIL opportunities at both recruiting new players and keeping existing players.
Just like with the transfer portal - which Saban was vehemently against and now uses to his advangate and the hurry up offense - which Saban lobbied against until he decided to start using it - Saban is 100% hypocritical. Especially when it comes to light via a bunch of tweets and what not that Alabama players were getting paid (shocking, I know) under the table long before NIL.
