Sometimes, years later, you have to laugh at an ass kicking.

In fifth grade, I got tied up to a tether pole while two sixth graders beat the piss out of me and left me tied up. I can laugh about it now. Sure wasn't funny at the time.

It doesn't sound real funny now. Anyone else with a better analogy?

It's all good. I got big and became a personal remedy for bullying.

Being able to laugh at your own misfortune and shortcomings is a sign of emotional maturity, intelligence, and creativity.

The fact most of us here can't get on board with that says quite a lot.

We got our butt kicked in the playoffs my Sr year. It was eye opening or closing if you will. It wasn't fun at the time but over the years it became quite funny. I couldn't grow a beard but the guy across from me had a full on beard hanging out of his chin strap.

In middle school we returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and then lost 81-6.

I assume it's Josh Walker. Kicked off the team for assaulting his GF.

To use this as any excuse for behavior at any time frame is nuts. And I grew up in the early 70s when there were no rules.

It was really funny about the part where us normies were paying for their scholarships, dormitories, food, tutors, tickets, clothes, stadiums, etc. for four years in exchange their lack of try.

Excellent point. It was pretty funny losing 59-0.

Now tell us about how hilarious it was to lose 77-0 in '03 vs ou. I bet you were rolling.

Nothing funny about 59-0. It did ramp up my BAS. That season was terrible. We traveled to South Carolina for the opener and came back thinking we were unbeatable. About 20 people sat around my backyard planning a big road trip to Bama. Thankfully, after a couple losses to somebody, reality set in and the trip fizzled. A bunch of those same people were at my house to watch the Bama game. We'd all been around for Tom Wilson, Fran and Sherman. By the end of the game we were probably talking about politics or something.
I think that Bama trip may happen this year.
Cooter Brown is my designated driver.

Those types of games suck at the time to watch, but if you can't laugh now you are probably the person that wants to bench every player for every screw up or fire the coach every time a play doesn't get a first down or TD.

If memory serves, we dropped a sure-fire 98-yard pick six early in the game (Bama's first drive?). Snowballed after that.

Not nearly as painful and significant as A Smith's drop on 4th down. Even if we still had lost, by 10 or less, playoff argument would have been much stronger.

Dude, we looked so friggin good against SC in the opener... the BAS exponentially increased that year for sure.

I was there for 77-0 and I can tell you that it wasn't funny from the stands. Maybe I should have stood on the sidelines to get a laugh out of it.

In 4th grade my soccer team lost a game 22-0. But the second time we played them we tied tho.

8th grade B team basketball we lost our first game 62-2. I was point guard.

Yeah, I forgot who it was, but nobody would have had a chance to catch them either.

It was so funny my wife came home to me black out drunk forcing myself to rewatch the game repeatedly to try and "cure myself from caring". It didn't work obviously

You're getting much closer to the point of the humor, which has completely missed most of the earlier posters. I'll break it down in a much more remedial way so that everyone can understand. The players aren't laughing at the loss. They're laughing at their behavior during the loss. As Meximan touched on, those of us who can laugh at our previous poor behavior show maturation. It doesn't surprise me that this concept flies over the heads of the zoo.

Well, not to equate the two things, as one is obviously 100000x worse than the other, but maybe this was a microcosm. Refusing to go in the game? Pathetic
