Kinda'ish. If I was Jimbo I would not accept that "commitment" from Perkins, would be looking to add a good LB transfer unless Harold says he is 10000% in. However, what is being said now and for public consumption is not necessarily the agreement between Harold and Jimbo.

As Jimbo has said before, he doesn't accept a "commitment" unless it is a commitment. One time a reporter asked Jimbo about recruits taking trips after they were committed, and he said that's like letting your fianc date after you were engaged...

Last season LJ Johnson was 10000% in but waited to announce, even though we had known for a long time he was going to sign / signed with A&M. My understanding is we took his signed LOI in the "early" signing period though the announcement didn't come until later.

He was like that after his sophomore year, but don't pretend like his recruitment/transfer portal never happened.

Adults can be such babies when it comes to college football recruiting. This kid is playing his recruitment period exactly the way he should. He's not an Aggie yet, he's not a Gator yet, he's not a Tiger yet. Until he is signed and on campus why would he have any loyalty to any one school right now. He will sign on Feb 2nd and based on where he signs he will be 1,000% in at that school.

It might make some of you feel better if you didn't follow recruiting until after the signing period is over. Then you know for sure who is coming and you don't have to worry about your feelings.

Not worried. Because of COVID restrictions in 2020, a lot of these guys still probably have leftover visits. Go take a free 2 day trip to Miami or Gainesville and enjoy the bag of cash they drop on you!

I know that Harold Perkins is an insane athlete... but compare his personality to Shemar Stewart's. I would really love for Shemar to pick us over Georgia.

He appears to be more about himself than any team. I would question just how strong is his commitment. Probably need a backup plan and be prepared should he not be truly committed.

Harold Perkins will be an Aggie. If you were 18, hell however old you are now who doesn't like to be wined and dined? Your something special until the moment you sign your name and then your a dumbasz freshman who has to prove himself all over again. Let the kid enjoy this moment. It is fleeting. And then he will be an Ag.

According to his own words today, not very strong. In fact, it's not a commitment at all. Doesn't mean he won't end up here, but

"I'm open to other schools and will make my final decision on Feb 2nd" is not being committed.

I'd put his odds of showing up at A&M at 50/50. His odds of contributing the first year at even less. I don't spend a lot of time (okay I don't spend any) following these recruits, but i must say that I just don't understand why a player "commits" if they're still looking. It's fine to look, but why commit until you're done looking?

Just an aside, it seems like the ability to pull out transfers is every bit as important as signing high school 4 and 5 stars these days.

I don't know if we have someone already doing this, but football programs need to have someone solely responsible for managing the transfer portal. That is definitely going to be a big part of building a roster moving forward.

Considered it, but even then could communicate why. He loved A&M and the 12th Man from the beginning, and said so often. Maybe Perkins will evolve into something like that, but in that video he just seems like an arrogant, entitled ******.

"He doesn't care what the Aggies down there think?" It is a little concerning if you ask me. Then he lit up when talking about how Florida is gonna use him, wildcat etc.

Perkins didn't even decommit yet. Also, you're using a college senior Leon as a standard for high school seniors.

At this point, I'm ecstatic at this class. Getting Perkins, Stewart or Matthews would just be the cherry on top. I'm not going to sweat their decision either way. I trust Jimbo to fill in their spots with high level recruits if any or all of those three go somewhere else.
