Has anyone seen an article explaining how programs handle scouting players in the portal? Unlike with high school, there's a really small window between when they enter and when they select their destination and also often limited college info since many are transferring due to lack of PT. Do we employ people whose job is to scout these guys to help Jimbo identify targets? Seems like a way big programs could get an advantage by having advanced scouting of guys who could enter so they can quickly jump on targets.

Is it really that small of a window though? Some kids never leave the portal, I feel like all they have is time…

We have a huge team of analysts that do most of our scouting, both high school and portal.

I talked to a college baseball coach last night who mentioned there were over 11,000 baseball players in the portal as of yesterday. There's a lot of wishful thinking reflected there.
