1. Zach has all the tools to be great. His toughness and arm strength are already legendary. He needs much better touch and decision making, but the coaches might be able to work on that in the offseason. He's actually a lot more mobile than anyone realizes. He ran away from #18 last night with tremendous speed, so when he has to run he can.
2. The offense is way too predictable and simple. The coaches need to install some power running sets. I love the I-formation. You can use a TE at the FB position after a shift to throw the defense off too, allowing a screen or run.
3. At the beginning of the season, I thought it was a rebuilding year because I didn't think the talent was there. By the end of the season I realized what missed opportunities we had and how much talent there actually was.
4. The defensive line this year was great, and we're going to miss a lot of that veteran experience next year. It's unusual to have four upperclassmen on the DL as we did this year.
5. I think the wide receivers will be one of the brightest spots next year.

1. Disagree. Between the ears particularly.
2. Your item #1 plays into the calls within the offense. And how D's scheme for us. It's a tangled web.
3. Agree. Except we were still rebuilding. OL in particular.
4. True. Reference last years OL and experience vs this years, except I don't think the DL dropoff will be as drastic comparatively.
5. Not sure on that one, but hope so.

I disagree on #1. I don't believe Calzada has the tools to be "great". He lacks touch, has poor fundamentals, and doesn't see the field well.

HS Junior Season (2017): 51% completion percentage, 15 TD's, 11 INT's, 1.3 TD/INT ratio
HS Senior Season (2018): 51% completion percentage, 14 TD's, 5 INT's, 2.8 TD/INT ratio
A&M Junior Season (this year, 2021): 56% completion percentage, 17 TD's, 9 INT's, 1.8 TD/INT ratio

This was Calzada's third year in the program. After three years of development, you can see he's the same player he was in High School. In my opinion, there is no reason to expect substantial improvement in year 4.

I agree with your other points, with the exception of #5. I'm not sure what would cause our WR's to finally be a strength in Jimbo year 5, but I hope you are right.

I appreciate Calzadas effort. He's got a cannon, but I don't think he has the tools to be great outside of that.

We would've gone 11-1 with King at QB. 10-2 minimum. And the talk about our coaches would be completely different. I will die on that hill.

Agreed!

We were about 6 plays away from having a great season with the wrong the QB.

Calzada, while having an arm, is not the right guy. For example, what do the Ags do with Mond at QB? I'm thinking 10-2. The loss of King really hurt, there was just no coming back from that this year. Calzada's ceiling was 10-2 and floor was 6-6. I'm not happy but 8-4 is better than it could be. I greatly appreciate his heart though.

Here's to a great recruiting class, continued development of our players and improvement from our coaches/staff in the off-season.

Oh, if anyone wants to drop some big NIL money on Smith, Johnson and Richardson I won't complain!

Calzada has arm strength, and that's it. He is what he is at this point. If you are expecting more, you're going to be disappointed
