I don't think the crowd is more than 10% Tech fans. The far of the stadium is solid red. The GA Tech fans own the best seats on the first deck of the stadium's near side, but that's really it for all of Bobby Dodd Stadium.

I'm poor with my internet skills, so these are the only pics I've been able to find. The bottom image shows the only gold sections in the stadium.

Colorado Buffaloes also won the 1990 National Championship. Big controversy with split champions that year. That split championship fueled the argument to have BCS champion.

One of my old roommates went to Georgia Tech. He said GT is a generally smaller school that has great academics, with a few traditions but not that many and being stuck in the middle of Atlanta (ie not a college town atmosphere) have the effect of the overall student body isn't into sports as Georgia is. In general, it doesn't seem like GT grads (as a whole) are as into supporting GT sport's as other schools might have.

In some ways kinda strikes me as the same issues that tu is dealing with. Obviously there are differences (like the smaller vs bigger student body and overall past sports historical successes) but seems like a valid comparison IMO.
