There is a reason NFL coaches do not run plays every 7 seconds, injuries are expensive and it kill ratings. His style like Briles does not fit the televised drama of football. This is not the spread this is short sighted and mis-guided, hurry up all game and hope the other team gets hurt more than your team. It also causes officiating chaos and error. Don't Big 12 the SEC

Sorry, but the OP is right. Hurry up is for the perpetually losing pgms. It's their ONLY hope. Not likely to go away for that reason. Makes for one-dimensional (all off.) teams that will persistently lose to good two-dimensional pgms...like Bama.

While playing fast QBs have to make throws, receivers have to catch, lineman have to block and RBs have to run. If that's working then it's not the playing fast that's beating you. It's the execution.

Agree. I don't think it makes for an equal playing field. If you want advantage offense, then this is your thing. If you want a balanced game, it's not.

NFL have a 53 man roster to protect. They may go hurry up a few times a game, but not every drive.

Lane does not have a defense worth protecting.

Anyways, the counter to hurry up is a fake cramp.

Lol so do you want a snake draft too of recruits or do you like jimbo winning on talent alone? Our record is good because of recruiting, not coaching, it's worse than it should be due to coaching.

Nothing will ever be "balanced" until talent Is more spread around.


This thread is idiotic unless you all want to eliminate recruiting or have 53 man rosters.

This is like saying that Steph Curry and the Warriors in their prime played too fast and they should have used the entire 24 second clock.

They had a schematic advantage and they executed it well for a while. We didn't lose that game because of that. We lost because we have an average to below average QB and WRs. Our OL is not great but I have hope for them getting better.

Agree Ole miss gimmick offense works against less talented teams, on average, it wont work vs. Bama, Georgias, LSU (in normal years) and A&Ms of the world -- more talented players will most often win out. When you have a heisman level QB on an Ole mIss offense, that makes them tougher -- not impossible to beat.. All we needed was an above average QB to be undefeated at this time

I would argue average would get the job done. A QBR of 13th out of 14 probably won't.

Exactly. Leach is great if you want a consistent 8 win team. But he'll never win a championship. MSU and ole miss have a cap on the talent they will recruit. Running hurry up/air raid gives them the best chance at sneaking up on good teams once in a while.

definitely agree with that, but as long as they are in effect coaches can and will take advantage of them.

guys like kiffin at programs like ole miss will use hurry up to "level the playing field" as much as they can with the more talented teams and gain an advantage over the equally tand less talented teams.

as an opponent, just have your players fake cramps, or un-pile slowly after a tackle.

Actually, they scored 20, with a lot less talent. Kiffen is the HC last I checked, and Ol Miss kicked our ass last Saturday.

We'll see how Lane does without Corral and having to recruit and develop his own players on both sides of the ball and QB.

My guess is he will look like Sark, average at best.
