Achane reminds me of Devon Achane
He is averaging 7.8 ypc on 151 career attempts, the next closest is 6.6 by Trey Williams
This is the perfect reason to only give him 10-12 touches per game...
"well Spiller has 3,000 career yards here…" - Jimbo. This was jimbo's postgame excuse for not putting Achane in the game while averaging 9 ypc the entire game. You have to wonder about his offense-related mental acuity at some point. He keeps losing us games by this simple choice, and that's not even including his average to below-average passing schemes a real OC solves.
I've listened to Jimbo's post-game excuses like the broken record that they are: "We just missed that one block...if someone's feet position would have been six inches to the left, we would have broken that for a TD...his reads were spot on, just his ball release was a little off...". This is the first time that I've heard him make an excuse that was completely unjustifiable. His "career yards"? Just admit that you don't like going with the hot hand and you consider "other things" - leave it to the imagination why you refuse to hand the ball to the best player on our team.
Or he knew we were in a must throw situation and Spiller is a better pass blocker than Achane and he didn't want to openly say that in front of the media. I swear some of you are just looking for things to ***** about.
On the drive where we pulled within 5 points (A&M 10-Ole Miss 15), Achane had runs of 16, 6, and 24 (TD run) yards. The very next possession, we went three-and-out...handing it to Spiller all three times...apparently not a "must throw situation".
Spiller is a solid RB option. Maybe he's a better pass blocker - I haven't noticed much difference between him and Achane. But that wasn't the question asked by the media ("Why was Spiller in the game?") it was why he wasn't handing the ball to Achane instead of Spiller when Achane obviously had the hot hand for the day.
