He is on every Tuesday for a few minutes, for what it is worth on his call in the radio host framed the question as "coach lots of information swirling, I hope it is not a distraction". Jimbo responded that it is not and said he loves A&M, he mention great people here, I think he said genuine people, said it is a great place to live and said Houston is like a suburb just an hour away, also said now that we have "branded ourselves nationally", we can go anywhere and get kids. Mention he signed new contract. Radio host followed up by saying there has always been talk about A&M being big but now that the money has started pouring in it is even more so that something big can be built at A&M. I think coach said he has everything he needs. He said, even outside of football the "Aggie network" is great (he didn't use this word but the point holds that he painted the Aggie network as a positive).

You never know, of course, but it would seem he is very happy where he is at and I gathered what he really likes is the all in commitment to win.

That's good to hear. I don't think I'll be totally settled until LSU names a head coach not named Jimbo. Until then the rumors will continue to swirl.

This.

It's unlikely Jimbo leaves. But it could happen. And there is zero Jimbo can say or do to change the thought that he might leave; we just have to wait until LSU names a coach.

Unfortunately its all the beat writers and can focus on right now even though there are other job openings available right now than just LSU. I was hoping the monkey assassin scandal would take hold and last a little longer to get them focused on something else but that fizzled out after a day. We need a big scandal (not at A&M) that lasts months to get them focused on until LSU announces their new coach (Aranda, Tucker, Brady etc.)

I had zero concerns until the guy that promised Chad morris was the next head coach started spiking the football

Now I'm a little worried bc he's wrong about everything

M&W posters got the story on the most recent LSU Tiger board dust-up last week … bottom line, a masterful troll job by a bored Aggie dad.

I didn't hear the interview, but it sounds like he danced around the issue again with another non-denial denial. Jimbo could shut all of this down by just answering the question directly.

When someone asks are you interested in the "fill in the blank" job and your response is "I love it where I'm at", you are not answering the question. What he should say is NO I am not interested in the LSU job.

This isn't true. If Jimbo said he wasn't interested people would still talk because coaches do that all the time. Saban said he wasn't going to be the next dolphins coach literally two weeks before he was.

Jimbo is taking advantage of the question to be a recruiter and put the message out there that CS is a great place to be.

I get the frustration, but it's still in his best interest to "leave some doubt" if he wants to negotiate for more money

Agree. It's never a hard commitment. That's what leaves it open. Not sure if that's at agent advisory or coach speak or doubt.

"Baton Rouge is great, but I'm home in Aggieland and not going anywhere."

Something clear that would totally close the door.

Seems like a game is being played.

We just gave him a rasie, that's pretty crappy if 2 months later he's already positioning himself for another one.

may be, but I am sure if you were in the position to negotiate a raise by simply skating around questions you would do it as well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who kinda feels uneasy about his response. When being asked this question he has refused to answer it directly. He wasn't as vague as when it was asked of him at Florida state, but he was far from direct. I guess it makes me uneasy because the only reason I can think of that someone wouldn't just flat out say "no, I'm not leaving" is if they in fact ARE leaving. Telling us how great of a place this is, is not a "no" for an answer. He's not going to go on national media and say "this place is trash, I hate it and can't wait to leave". He said nice things as id expect anyone to say. But he never said point blank "I am not taking the LSU job". And I can't think of any reason why he wouldn't say it that clearly. Unless of course he IS leaving and we already have his replacement hired and they're just not wanting to go and Munson the rest of the season and recruiting cycle up

If Jimbo would answer this question the way Mike Tomlin did, no one would be talking about the potential for him to go to LSU right now.

For those who don't remember, this is what Mike Tomlin said when asked if he had interest in the LSU job....

"Hey, guys, I don't have time for that speculation," Tomlin said. "I mean, that's a joke to me. I got one of the best jobs in all of professional sports. Why would I have any interest in coaching college football?

"That will be the last time I address it. Not only today but moving forward. Never say never, but never. OK? Anybody else got any questions about any college jobs. There's not a booster with a big enough blank check."

LSU isnt as attractive as people think. He wont have the freedom from the institution like we give him. He has to deal with the entitlement of winning immediately or else he is a failure. They have recent NCs so he will spend his first decade in Les' shadow; here he can establish himself and have 20 more years to build a legacy to rival Saban's.

Then there is the personal stuff. Access to healthcare, support for charities, having the warmth of Texan friendliness.

This might be his last opportunity for a long time as he's about to price himself out of being a target in the future (if he realistically hasn't already)

I am just not sure what is gained by going to LSU right now.

He built a pretty stout Aggie team in past few years.
He beat down and deformed LSU a little via recruiting and perception.
Why go head to head with Aggies after building them up...seems like beating your head against wall. It would take minimum 3 years to get LSU to his current A&M trajectory.

I like Baton Rouge...but i think i'd rather live in college station
LSU has a bunch of great stuff...A&M has a bunch of great stuff - somewhat equal really.
Money - he will get paid whatever he wants with very little concern about more money for assistants and facilities. Tax rate in LA is 6% ... he likely pays little property tax after Ag Exemptions here. So not seeing money being an issue.

So unless he is secretly brother-in-lawing with Scott Woodward I would not understand a move.

He said something to that end in the press conference a couple weeks ago and you still said he didn't answer it then. He cut Olin off when he was trying ask another question about it later in the press conference.

You can show me the quote if you would like, but I have not heard Jimbo say anything to the effect of "I'm not interested in the LSU job" or "I'm not going to be the coach at LSU". Jimbo is a smart man, he isn't saying it on purpose and THAT is what worries me. Maybe it is just to get another raise, but the maybe not part is concerning.

It could be that there are a few Boosters that don't want Jimbo for some reason and by answering the question with a little ambiguity, it gives Jimbo some leverage against them.

It could be a lot of things honestly, but to act like there is absolutely zero chance he is even entertaining the idea of going to LSU is a little nave.

It is very public now that LSU is targeting Jimbo right now and are pursuing him aggressively, that is undeniable at this point.

Will those of you who constantly bring this up and worry and hand wring and are trying to recruit others into your misery inducing worry please give it a rest? There is no amount of navel gazing that will change the result. If he goes it will suck. The likelihood of him going is slim though. But at this point it is tiresome to hear the same shiz over and over and over...we get it, you are worried.

Again, the ONLY reason to leave is if you think your chances are better at playing and winning a NC. Is it an easier path? Maybe just slightly but not a slam dunk.

I just want to say for the record (as I have before) that I don't believe Jimbo is leaving. Ross Bjork can't afford to lose Jimbo to a divisional rival AND his predecessor, he will match or exceed any offer Jimbo gets from LSU.

Having said that, I will sleep much better at night once LSU officially hires someone else.

That has already happened. Thus the extension and raise.

Jimbo is a loyal man, he is 1000% in on A&M, what he is building here and his life here.

It's about as likely as Jimbo getting attacked by a polar bear on the sideline during the PVAMU game. Could it happen? Yes. Will it happen. No. Even if it did, it would not be about $$ or anything else we could control or counter with, if for whatever reason he wanted to be there for reason X/Y/Z.

Stop worrying about it or even thinking about it, it will not happen.
