Chicken E is legendary. The sides. The salt. Yes.

The one on 6 and University used to hook it up fat on a number 2. I ended up with around 10 tenders usually. And always got some corn nuggets. My roommate would get gizzards okra and stuffed jalapeños. One of the cooks used to "throw away" a special trash bag with all the left over chicken at the same time every night on Fridays...


But yea having Chicken E above popeyes is a criminal offense.

I remember when Layne's opened up across the street from the entrance to A&M.

The pieces were twice as big and the sauce was often free. And it was cheap.

So many great memories. I know he struggled at first, but Layne's will always be the bar standard in my mind.
