https://247sports.com/Article/LSU-coaching-search-Texas-AM-Jimbo-Fisher-perfect-fit-to-replace-Ed-Orgeron-says-Paul-Finebaum-173333128/

"He's been there before. He should have already been there again. Remember, they were about to fire Les Miles at the end of the (2015) season, and Jimmy Sexton and Jimbo Fisher's people balked. They didn't feel like they were getting enough money and Scott Woodward ended up getting stuck with Les."

Scott Woodward was at Washington in 2015 you moron, Joe Alleva was the AD then and he now claims that he never wanted Jimbo and it was him that recommended they keep Les Miles.

LSU is a dumpster fire with all the shenanigans and the coaching carousel. Who in their right mind besides a young up and comer would want to go deal with cleaning that crap up?

Additionally, I've not seen anyone talk about this one thing:

We've not had a national Championship winning coach since players wore facemasks.

Jimbo has a chance here to do something that no other coach has done.

We're talking about something more than money. And since he's got plenty of it, my guess is that he's seeing the fact that even goofballs like Miles can win at LSU.

Hopefully he see that this is a truly unique situation where he can be the one and only, not one of four.

Paul Finebaum is an old school SEC guy and the thought of A&M rising to challenge the status quo doesn't sit too well with him. I don't think a lot of A&M folks call his show from what I've seen.

After graduating from Tennessee, he moved to Birmingham, Alabama and became a reporter and columnist for the Birmingham Post-Herald.

This explains why he has such a connection to Alabama-based teams and why his radio show always seems to gravitate back to the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn University. It is also a large reason why he was able to play a large role in the ESPN documentary "Roll Tide/War Eagle"

"That atmosphere and that environment tonight, if you don't want to play in something like that, there's something wrong with you. ... Bar none, that's the best fan base in college football." - Jimbo Fischer

If you don't wanna coach in something like that, there's something wrong with you too….

Finebaum is an idiot. Biased about Ala.. This is a classic example of why the office needs to be moved from Birmingham. The entire group and refs is biased.

I personally doubt Jimbo would even want to go. He was a minor CFB villain while at FSU, but I think he's enjoyed being "a good guy," and a guy who's name is synonymous with respect, as Aggies should be, at A&M and I think he loves being the campus hero and the support he and his family have, evident not just by what you see and hear on Saturdays, but the ongoing support his foundation raising money for research on his son's disease has.

It kinda sounds like coach O may let LSU out of the buyout they needed to give him. Even then, after winning a natty, they were only paying O 6 million per year. Can they even get that up to 10 million at 9 years????

HoustonAg, I agree on miving the offices out of Bama.

It amazes me that FL, Ga, Auburn, LSU (to some extent) , us…. complain about the situation and the officiating, yet take NO action against it.

Certainly it doesnt take a vote of 14-0 to rectify that?

I hear the response now ("SEC is dominant, if it aint broke dont fix it"). but SEC is NOT in that position because everything is based in Birmingham. It could be even better.

Well it would be pretty awkward for Jimbo to leave for LSU after that goofy sing along commercial this weekend.

Coach O is going to make $8.7 million this year (his salary was $9 million but he and everyone else took a voluntary 5% paycut because of covid)

When I first got the SEC network channel, I thought it was going to be so awesome to have shows that talked about nothing but the SEC. Paul is on when I get home and he and his callers are unlistenable. It's like an SNL sketch. There is no way they can actually be that stupid. Now one of the sports talk radio stations has him on on my drive home. Again, I thought it would be mildly entertaining but I would rather listen to the farm reports to be quite honest.

Crazy Thought: LSU might be the easiest school in the country to win a national championship. Their last three coaches have won titles. I don't know of any other school that can say this.

It's a fair point but there have been a ton of problems there as well. Granted they are mostly self inflicted wounds.

It definitely seems like that's the case. Time will tell, but I do feel like the arrow is pointing down on LSU...but I can see why a top level coach would see the success O and Miles had there and think they can easily duplicate that.

Well, I don't know how to use google, apparently. After beating Bama, I feel like our boosters are willing to up that value again to 10 mill. At that point, LSU would have to offer about 11.5 million so that he is making 1 million more, after LA's filthy state income tax comes in to cut it down.

Can LSU seriously offer 11.5 million? Surely not.

Why do people act like Texas doesn't have high property taxes and high sales tax. The idea state income tax is just negated here.

As the state's one and only big school, they'll do whatever it takes to win. Trust me, having lived there, this is all that matters and their baseball program.

I'm still amazed that big schools like LSU would entertain paying someone $11.5 million to coach. They recruit well just because of who they are. They can go out and find and up and coming coordinator and pay less than half of that and be good.

The problem is only small schools know how to find new coaches. Big schools only know how to steal smaller school coaches with money.

It's more about if they can or would offer as much guaranteed money as Jimbo has here, isn't it?

The most critical piece of evidence that would indicate Jimbo Fisher is not leaving A&M for LSU is the fact that he has already left a university with a football pedigree that at least equals, if not exceeds, LSU's. Again, I'm not saying it would never happen, because we don't know what truly Jimbo wants. However, all of the evidence indicates that Jimbo Fisher is exactly where he wants to be and that he intends to stay for as long as Texas A&M will provide the opportunity he desires.

Paul Finnebaum, I know you love Alabama and probably cuddle up next to a Saban life size doll but, Jimbo was hired to win a National Championship, beating Bama is not the ultimate goal. You need to broaden your horizons beyond Tuscaloosa.
