Let's just run the single wing from here on out.

Advantages:
1. It has no quarterback and utilizes running backs as the main offensive weapon of which we have many talented options
2. It is designed to cause a lot of eye candy and confusion for a defense with fake handoffs and strange formations
3. No defense will be familiar with defending it as it is from the 1910s and will confuse everybody

Minor disadvantages:
1. We may drastically underutilize most of the roster
2. No one on this coaching staff will have any experience with this and won't know how to install it
3. We probably can't execute it at all without an off-season of prep

Either way I say we do this because Calzada sucks and I want to see an ancient offense in how it effects modern football! Now who's with me!?

Almost said, "yeah nobody knows how to stop it since it hasn't been run in 100+ years, but that just means they'll watch the film on it and figure it out that way." I would never have recovered from that comment.

On the other hand, it's so old that there's like no film on it and the books that contain that knowledge have surely perished right? Nick Saban's gonna have to go on a jungle cruise for the ancient scrolls to stop it.

Yeah, bad idea, dude. But I respect that you've made it to the bargaining stage of grief.

Triple option all the way. Is Ken Hatfield still alive? We could bring him in as an analyst or Co-OC

We ran the single wing offense from 1958 through 1961 or 62 when our head coach was Jim Myers. Charlie Milstead was a great QB/tail back or whatever the QB is called in that offense. When we broke the huddle we would do a beautiful serpentine to the line of scrimmage. We were pretty good offensively. Former Brazos County judge Randy Sims was a back in that as well as our field goal kicker. He kicked a 53 yarder which was our record longest kick until Tony kicked his 63 yarder. Great days to watch Agoie football as a kid

I agree with BBA12. The Houston veer utilizes all three backs (QB and 2 HB) for rushing and you still have a tight end, split end and flanker. In its day, the offense was virtually unstoppable with Danny Davis as the QB. Maybe we can reincarnate the spirit of Bill Yeoman.

Read option already took single wing to another dimension.

Those were my years as a student, but I somehow don't recall the great part about watching Aggie football back then. Those were hard times footballwise for us. I was a fish in the Corps in 1958, the year following Bear Bryant's last season as A&M Head Coach. Back then the Corps was not a happy place to be a fish following football losses as we were apparently responsible for the loss by not yelling loudly enough!

Our football record during my 4 student years,1958-1961, was 12-24-4 overall and 5-18-3 in the SWC. We had no winning seasons and, of course, no bowl games. The worst year was 1961 when we went 1-6-3 in football which gave birth to the "Tie the Hell Outa (opponent name)" yell. Our records against SWC opponents: 0-4 against both tu and Arkansas, 0-3-1 vs. TCU, 1-3 vs. Rice, 1-2-1 vs. SMU, 2-2 vs. Baylor and 1-0-1 against Tech (joined SWC in 1960).

As bad as Aggie football was during my 4 years, the next 4 (1962-65) were even worse with 9-30-1 overall and 6-21-1 SWC records.

While I'm dealing with statistics, even worse than the above 8-year stretch from 1958-65, was our record against tu during my growing up years and a good many afterward. I'm an old man now (age 81), but as of my 35th birthday in 1975, our record vs. tu in football to that point during my lifetime was 3 wins (1951, 1956 and 1967), a tie in 1948 and 31 losses. I don't have words to express how much I still hate those sorry b******s! Having to hear them singing "pooooor Aggies" beginning early in the 4th quarter year after year after year. Pure, unadulterated hate for them!

And now we're going to have to play those teasip SOBs again every year in the SEC. Not sure I can stand it!
On the relatively bright side, we did play the pigs closer than tu did. Small consolation!

Listen to this learned man, he knows of what he speaks.
