Hey Longhorn fans. I thought I would educate you on SEC football refs just so your heads don't explode when you watch football games. It's gonna be, well let's say, different than you are used to.
Just so you know:
1. Holding is seldom called. If you're being held it's your fault you are not larger and stronger.
2. There is no penalty for roughing the passer unless it's Alabama's quarterback.
3. Pass interference isn't a thing. You should have ran the ball anyway. If you're passing it just means you're weak. Unless you are Alabama, don't touch their receivers.
4. There is no penalty for taunting. Feel free to taunt. And if you're expecting some sort of yardage when a player does horns down, the conference will just laugh at you. Don't go there.
5. Face mask penalties have to be right in front of a ref. They won't call it unless they have to.
6. Touchdowns are frequently called back if you're beating a team that is in the top ten. The SEC protects its brand.
7. There is no roughing the kicker. He should be tougher is what seems to be the thought.
8. If you hit any Alabama player too hard, the refs will automatically call targeting. It usually does get worked out by video replay, but don't freak out when this happens.
9. Did I mention that we don't call holding?
10. In short the referees pretty much ensure the games are a war of will between the linemen. It's very easy to beat spread teams in this league. You just hold them so they can't catch (right LSU?). But don't hold Bama receivers the rules are different for Bama.
That's it, we will be here watching, as your collective heads explode.
