With the perceived gravitation toward super-conferences that are likely, "ahem," governed by ESPN/Disney, could 4-8 prominent universities break free and cut a Notre Dame/NBC type deal and play as independents and be on national tv each week?
If so, I think that they would be giving up the pursuit of a national championship, but would be able to significantly increase the awareness and promotion of their institution as it relates to the recruitment of students and faculty. Basically getting four hours of university promotion.
