It would leave tu reeling in the Big 12 like a jilted bride.
The B1G would have taken Texas, but Texas declined without OU. Package deal.jlAG97 said:
We keep hearing reports that tu/ou initally approached the B1G. If the B1G said no to ou b/c of the AAU status, then fine, but no way they should have said no to tu.
B1G was very short-sighted to not allow tu in as they are a better fit over there and would expand their footprint.

The Big 10 makes poor sense sports-wise and that really should be all that matters for realignment. I imagine there are closer teams in the SEC and the games/atmosphere will be better.Bunkhouse96 said:
More likely that tu asked for the invite with ou to get ou in, once we formally extend the invite ou accepts and tu bolts for the big10
Not saying that happens, but it makes more sense than us only inviting one.
I agree to a great extent with this, but given the choice between the Big Ten and the SEC for Texas, I don't see a close comparision. Geography, sports interest, and money all point to the SEC.jlAG97 said:
Not sure sports teams and geography are primary factors any more
It does have an effect on the 10,000 other athletes in all the non-football sports that will be traveling to BFE every other week. Football carries the budget and all those other expenses would reduce the amount of NIL money they could use on football.jlAG97 said:

That's too rational. Look how far down the road Dodds got with the PAC deal in 2010 before he bothered to look at a map.Win At Life said:It does have an effect on the 10,000 other athletes in all the non-football sports that will be traveling to BFE every other week. Nah. That deal was with Tech, OU, and OK State joining too. We would have been in a division with the Arizona schools. Essentially a slightly more western SWC or Big 12 South. Quite doable.aggiehawg said:That's too rational. I have not read or heard anything that supports any of this aside from texags speculation. Anyone have a source????Gaius Julius Bevo said:The B1G would have taken Texas, but Texas declined without OU. Package deal.jlAG97 said:
