Kinda Strange given this:

Quote:

The University of Oklahoma and the University of Texas, two esteemed academic institutions with storied athletics programs, today submitted formal requests for invitations to become members of the Southeastern Conference in 2025.

While the SEC has not proactively sought new members, we will pursue significant change when there is a clear consensus among our members that such actions will further enrich the experiences of our student-athletes and lead to greater academic and athletic achievement across our campuses. The Presidents and Chancellors of the SEC, in their capacity as the conference's Chief Executive Officers, will consider these requests in the near future. Per the Bylaws of the SEC, a vote of at least three-fourths of the SEC's 14 members is required to extend an invitation for membership.

Generalized agenda item gives them basis latitude for the discussion.

Nothing is happening in the BOR meetings either. The rest of this process is called a rubber stamp. It's proceeding exactly like when A&M and Mizzou left. The fact that people here think there is going to be some "Who ordered the code red" moment is laughable.

This. All these things are just formalities they have to go through.

Exactly. And I'd be willing to bet that there have already been numerous unofficial conversations between university presidents and members of their respective board of regents to take the temperature and float ideas. Can't talk to too many without triggering Open Meetings rules, but small groups becomes a gray area within the laws.

Because of the off the record and small group work done ahead of time, the actual meetings can proceed relatively quickly and without much fanfare.

All of the juicy stuff happens in executive session anyway, and most of that is not considered public record. Those minutes are sealed.

Most of you won't even show up for your shift meeting at Burger King and you know how a BOR meeting works?

Wood. Speaking for a friend of course.
