New chatter that the SEC is after Clemson, FSU, Michigan and Ohio State too.
20 team mega conference? Hostile takeover of the NCAA?

Is it better for A&M for the SEC to be a 40 team mega conference or for A&M to be one of the 14 members in the best conference?

Either one is better than whatever tech, okie state and Baylor get.
So is this about power? Or entertaining college football? By acquiring more of one, we might lose the other.Eso si, Que es said:ThisFtBendTxAg said:Tomas Hermensa said:

Sick of people acting like we are out in the cold. No, it is not the ideal scenario. Yes it is easy to see how we were backstabbed.
But we don't get to dictate the entire landscape of college football. Bright side, we get to be in the conference that does get to dictate it.

We might be going to two 20 team meggeconferences with only big-money schools (and a few lucky ones like Vandy) that kick out the NCAA completely and operate as a two leagues with their own "superbowl" like the NFL.
Teams 41-whatever are not even invited to their playoffs. Let them play themselves like Div 3 does.

I am hearing chatter that this could also include USC, Notre Dame, Stanford, UCLA, Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers, Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and the Los Angeles Lakers. Each team will get one trillion dollars per season.
We have a winner. Fans don't necessarily want what maximizes revenue in theory.Baron Von Karbach said:

Thing is, seems like Sankey learned from that failure and won't give fans the chance to voice opinions. I think it's inevitable...BadAggie said:We have a winner. Fans don't necessarily want what maximizes revenue in theory.Baron Von Karbach said:

No surer way to kill off interest at many schools than to introduce that kind of uncertainty. Donors won't even bother, imo.Baron Von Karbach said:Thing is, seems like Sankey learned from that failure and won't give fans the chance to voice opinions. And I'm definitely gonna go ahead and be that guy and say maybe this means we get promotion/relegation in and out of a super-league model.
