they probably supported it. The current admin no longer involves someone like Loftin. It's Sharp and other political types like him. They are about high dollar research agreements and chasing any government dollar they can. They are pumping enrollment and looking at any way they can to squeeze money there. We are taking Chinese money left and right hand have a ton of Chinese national researchers all throughout our school. The money is worth it to them. They aren't driven by recruiting or possibly even athletics as a whole. They find value in our relationship with Texas. That's why you see more and more research and grant partnerships. The money looked good to them with adding OU and Texas. But they knew it would infuriate the fan base so that's why you're seeing cover about "not knowing". Look at the actions of our admin last summer. It's plainly clear they consider their alumni and fanbase a bunch of rubes and an annoyance.

Great post and I agree. Sharp has done so much damage to this university, this is just another data point on his long list of failures.

The mouse is behind all this.

2 days after the news drops and everyone is already talking like it's a done deal?

The mouse is behind all the news. They want it to happen, badly.

They knew, and they knew it would be unpopular to most Aggies. Then, they reported it like, "What? How could the SEC do this? We didn't know." which deflected some of the anger to the conference. The administration saw the anticipated money and couldn't turn it down.

Going to be hard to claim that when we ultimately vote yes.

Not to sound like a smart *** but I recall that phrase being thrown around during the last round of realignment that ultimately led to A&M leaving for the SEC.

The deal gets made if Disney wants it to be. They're the big gorilla in this with all the money. The politicians and school administrators will fall in line with whatever result is desired and they will be rewarded for it.

I hate adding UT and OU, but I think it makes sense. This is a long-term hedge for a changing landscape. If college football completely decouples from the NCAA and it's rules, the SEC wants to rule the roost in whatever follows. Adding UT and OU pretty much ends any challenge to the SEC being the predominant college football organization.

I do think bringing in UT will give that program new life. It will take a real commitment by A&M to make sure we don't get behind again.

Until the cancer that is Texas ultimately infects and destroys the SEC. You know it, I know it, and everyone else except SEC administration knows it.

We've already made that commitment and are continuing to do so and reaping the rewards of it. New stadium, one of the top coaches in the country, top level facilities, recruiting on a national level like never before, etc., etc. You may be falling behind on your recognition, but the A&M program is not.

Loftin massively overstated his role in our move to the SEC so I disagree.

May you get what you wish for! tu and ou are not prepared to play in the physical SEC. They will be badly exposed for the true state of their programs, which are highly overrated. In the short run it could make their recruiting more difficult. Long term out a decade or so who knows..
