Need to serve notice that there is a big FU coming to the east side of the conference. They are ok with adding 2 teams to the west to prevent expansion in the east.

UCF is not an SEC caliber university.

Problem with any ACC exit is the massive fee involved in leaving. It is roughly $50 million.

Now if a T. Boone Pickens-style booster came along and was willing to bankroll that exit fee, then it would be interesting to see if a school would petition the SEC for membership.

I remember the Under Armor guy flashing the-then $31 million exit fee to take Maryland to the Big 10. They couldn't wait to get out from under the clutches of the Carolina mafia.

Why stop @ 16? If it's about $$ let's go to 20 and add FSU, Clemson, Miami and Louisville! The more the merrier!

Pete Thamel apparently talked about a rumor today that A&M prepared to threaten UF and SCar into voting no by proposing an 18 team plan to the SEC to add FSU and Clemson if they vote yes on OU/tu.

Good, I hope President Banks took a baseball bat to the meeting. The way the SEC office and whatever schools attempted this is inexcusible and just disgusting. They backstabbed us and they know it or else they wouldn't have tried to sneak them in.

Let just invite the entire NCAA to join!

Holy crap if your thought is our counter proposal to inviting tu is to invite UCF, we should just call everyone and say "never mind we are fine with Texas."

Good God.

FSU is at least a viable substitute.

Hell why stop there, why not say "Yerp a derp, we want to invite Tulsa and U of H because they are teams in Texas and Oklahoma." Makes about as much sense

OU and UNC/VaTech/Cincinnati

Sign a deal to play Fexas again on a home and home basis; This give Fexas something they need badly which is an attractive home game every other year to beef up their schedule (that is one reason they are scheduled to play Arky and GA down the road). Make sure that the Fexas game is slated for Thanksgiving weekend like it should be at Kyle and DKR only. When you do this, you get LSU out of playing us on Thanksgiving weekend which they just abhor doing. Assist in making sure Fexas is able to continue to play OU once a year in Dallas.

Everybody wins; no tu in the conference, the SEC goes to 16 members and if we get Cincinnati, we start inching into the BIG10 region and become a thorn in their ass with all the TV's sets we can latch on to. LSU doesnt have to play us on Thanksgiving, we resume our series with tu where it should be and get the stupid egg bowl off the TV and Fexas can stay in the big12 where it can be the king of nothing or maybe go to the PAC12 with BYU.
Peace for Ukraine!

FSU is in a stable conference with a new media deal and literally no power conference wants UCF. Next plan?

well, you have a point.

Clemson and FSU have both won titles in the last 10 years.. I don't think they see a change as necessary. The ACC is a much more stable conference than the Big 12.
Why would OU and tu see a change as necessary? A 12 team playoff is coming with 6 autobids for the highest ranked CCG winners. OU would literally be guaranteed a spot in the playoffs from then until eternity. The sips chances of making the playoffs go down significantly as well in the SEC. The SEC is not going to take every single one of the 6 at large bids every year. You're just going to have 8 football heavyweights in the same conference cannibalizing each other every year.

It just doesn't make sense for OU and tu to significantly decrease their chances of winning for an alleged extra $5 to 15 million per year, depending on the school (Texas would lose the $15mil a year ESPN pays directly to them for the LHN). Why give up winning for low single digit percentage increases in total revenue? If you can't win, your "brand" dies off. If your brand dies off, the money dies off. The whole thing is counterintuitive.

Clemson is the biggest threat, but it's funny how much **** they talk about FSU turning them down decades ago and never getting another invite yet that's EXACTLY WHAT OU DID.

yes, this is definitely part of the negotiation tactic.

agree to adding OU (if necessary) to get Florida's and South Carolina's support in blocking t.u.

For attention like always. They don't even the same type of fanbase when it comes to passion in football. They just can't stand it when no ones talking about them. I honestly think they know they are running out of options and grasping for straws to see if they can get a bite, possibly turn around and say they decided to decline offer.
Aggieair

They can get all the attention they want, but if they can't win, no one will take them seriously and their tshirt fanbase begins to evaporate.
