Strategic Recruiting Adjustments

(**TexAgs Disclaimer**) I have faith that Jimbo will adjust where necessary and we'll be fine. I also know I'm a nobody and Jimbo doesn't need my advice in anyway. (**End of Disclaimer**)

I think 3 or 4 blue-chips (4*/5*) per year will end up at tu/ZeroU that would have gone to A&M before this news. What should the strategy be to not only break even, but continue to push toward Bama/tOSU/UGA-level dominance in recruiting? I have some ideas:

1) Be the strong 2nd school for Louisiana kids: Make L$U sweat more for the local boys. Getting Holstein is a great start, but the goal should be to get 1 or 2 blue-chips per year that wouldn't have left LA before, using NIL and beating L$U consistently...

2) Be #1 in assistant coach's salaries every year: We should have more OAs/DAs than Alabama. Hire away top GAs from UGA/Bama/tOSU, like Nick Williams. Don't worry about the dead money from buyouts for the D. Craig-type of coaches. If most or all the extra money from the tu/ZeroU inclusion goes to ACs and turning star GAs into OAs/DAs, it's a wise investment. Again, the goal should be to get 1 or 2 blue-chips per year that wouldn't have come before (Ex. Smoke Bouie)...

3) Invest heavily into PAC-12 country: tu/ZeroU to the SEC 100% kills the PAC-12 from having a chance to grow into a super-conference. There's no worthwhile teams left to pluck! 1/4 of the country is sitting there waiting to be harvested! It doesn't matter that Jimbo has never had to go West before. Time to start NOW! Once again, 1 or 2 blue-chips per year that wouldn't have before is what is needed.

What do you guys think?

I think A&M is going to lose 3-5 TX blue chip recruits to tu and OU that would've otherwise gone to A&M after tu and OU come to the SEC.

I think the solution is to continue to recruit nationally and sell the aggie network to kids. Continue to develop the Florida and NE pipelines.

This is Saban sticking it to Jimbo. We should fight this as hard as we can.

No it's not. Saban isn't scared of Jimbo.

There's also the possible upside of taking away the stage that Baylor/Tech/TCU have. They're not sucking up tons of the in-state talent, but they get some here and there. And it's not like Texas and A&M don't compete in recruiting as it is, I don't know how much being in the same conference really tips those scales.

The goal has to stay at gunning for Bama/UGA in recruiting, not just treading water with tu/ou... This thread is my idea for moving toward that goal. What tangible adjustments can be made knowing we'll lose some recruits to tu/ou?

More guaranteed money for top recruits.
