To no one's surprise is practically giddy over this. Not surprising to see them assist in the backstabbing, but still disappointing.

Lol backstabbing. There is no obligation to be "loyal" to anyone. It's a business decision, and whatever improves the bottom line the most will be the outcome if at all possible.

nobody is backstabbing anyone. NIL = no more NCAA = conferences must now fight each other more than individual schools. It's about having the best overall conference for an athlete to come join and make money in.

No school in the ACC or B1G is going to be wanting to get out of their current situation. The race is on to 4 super-conferences and tu/OU are far and away the top free agents outside of SEC/B1G/ACC/PAC.

It's just the way it is.

ESPN went full media blitz last year to exclude us from the playoff. We aren't a good story to them, so the inconvenience that we're currently relevant just makes them wish we'd go back to irrelevancy more. Not surprised in the slightest that they'd be swooning over the sips and ou since it would give them the team they want.

ESPN has a failed $300M investment in the LHN and tu. Sure ESPN wants this.

Exactly. At this point, the SEC is simply trying to grab the strongest individual brands they can to add to the portfolio. The feelings of individual institutions pales in comparison to the larger brand.

Can the SECN promise to have a camera on the commissioner's and conference leadership faces when horn announces that the SEC headquarters is moving from Bama to Dallas. That will be must see TV right there.

The SECn is owned and staffed by ESPN, it's not the SEC office.

Of course they are giddy at the prospect of new programming

I said it earlier, it may not be a year or a decade, but eventually they will rot the conference inside out. The saddest part the rot comes with them, so just them joining torpedoes the 100 year decision.

TV sports news should probably just go ahead and ignore the big news of the day.
