Yeah we were outscored but that's a game I'd like revisit. Can't find anything online video wise.
Any of you wizards able to help?
Thanks!

This was indeed the very peak of the R.C./Sherrill era and it was all Visogths sacking Rome/Dark Ages thereafter until the late Sherman/Sumlin era.Quote:
a 26 year old game we lost?
Line didn't collapse, Neuheisel put 8 guys in the box and dared us to throw. We couldn't. He also got RC to burn not 1, but 2 timeouts by putting a fake formation on the field for a 2-point conversion that RC couldn't comprehend. That was the day you knew we were never going to win a title with RC.Windy City Ag said:
I remember our line collapsing and Leeland McElroy being hit by multiple guys in the backfield on every play.

I was on the 50 yard line of that game. I remember Keith Mitchell and Larry Walker and Reggie Brown all looking like jacked up huge dudes on the bench in front of me.
I remember Corey Pullig hitting Chris Sanders in the numbers on a slant with nothing but 70 yards of open green in front and Sanders dropping the ball.
I remember our line collapsing and Leeland McElroy being hit by multiple guys in the backfield on every play.
I remember Koy Detmer of the Buffs going out with an injury only for his backup to drive the ball effectively.
I remember after we lost, the Colorado fans stormed the field and a big police line tried to stop them from pulling down the net behind the end-zone. The students overwhelmed the police and yanked down the net which resulted in a 20 foot tall pole dropping into a crowd and injuring people. Finally the police fired tear gas into the student section dispersing them.

We didn't just lose, we went from dark horse title contender to roadkill in a single afternoon. I'm trying to forget that game ever happened.
So much this. RC also horribly managed the second half, which brought about the 'prevent the win' offense and defense moniker for his remaining years. Truly anemic, horrible play calling. The defense wouldn't have close to that talent level again for 20+ years.Windy City Ag said:This was indeed the very peak of the R.C./Sherrill era and it was all Visogths sacking Rome/Dark Ages thereafter until the late Sherman/Sumlin era.Quote:

I know R.C. had his 98 upset of K-State but the sheer dominance of A&M over the entire region basically collapsed early this season. This was the roll down to Fran losing 77-0 to the Sooners.
Maybe, and certainly you'd love for him to have made that catch, but I think it would have just delayed the inevitable and set us up for a similar loss down the road.Phoenix1 said:Windy City Ag said:

I will go to my grave saying that single play (Sanders drop) changed the entire trajectory of A&M football. He catches that we go up by double digits & end the "they can't win the big game" mantra. That dropped doomed us to second tier.

Hand off to Leland X 3, then punt. Repeat for 60 minutes.

How this got any stars I have no idea
We were not a " dark horse title contender" .. we entered that game ranked 3rd in the country so we were anything but a dark horse title contended
And yes that was one of many possible program shifting wins we lost in the 90's however an 8 point loss on the road to the 7th ranked team in country did not make us " roadkill"
The game that did us in 1995 was the next week at Tech.
I remember this game. This was back when the Wrecking Crew was dominate over UT and the rest of the South West Conference.Windy City Ag said:This was indeed the very peak of the R.C./Sherrill era and it was all Visogths sacking Rome/Dark Ages thereafter until the late Sherman/Sumlin era.Quote:
