This is just a heads up to anyone that may not realize what I discovered yesterday regarding my standing with my TMF account.

If you decided to opt out of 2020 and defer your ticket balance AND donation balance, and you have not contributed the minimum amount required in 2020 to keep your TMF account in an active status you are currently in an inactive status. This of course means you will lose your consecutive years of giving if you do not contribute to TMF by end of year.

I initially discovered by looking at my account and realizing I can no longer see my priority point ranking. A call after to TMF confirmed it.

Unfortunately, After donating and having 4 season tickets every year since I graduated, I am done with them.

I mentioned this a while back after I became aware. They did not publicize this well AT ALL, which seems almost purposeful, but why would they anger donors? I am leaning towards incompetence concerning disseminating information.

Shady and disheartening.

There was plenty of talk about this at the time folks were making the decision. If you didn't realize that you need to make a donation to keep the years of consecutive giving points, that's on you. I really can't fault the TMF, who was begging for folks to donate their full refund, for not, at the same time, advising that you only need to give $150 to keep your years of consecutive giving points. That would have undermined their primary objective.

yeah I don't see anything shady with that at all.

They should have sent out emails last month warning people their consecutive years streaks are on the line, let the donations pour in during December.

Priority points are for them primarily. It helps them decide who the best donors are. They only really tell us at all for two reasons... #1 because it encourages donors to give more to boost their number and #2 as something they can point to and say this is why Richie McRicherson got tickets instead of you.

If you give them nothing for a year, why would they change their formula to ignore that? I can see where they might, but not where it would be shady if they didn't.

I just checked my account. There has been a drop of over 10k (10 Thousand!) active members in the TMF because of the contribution pushes. Crazy!!

They are chasing $150,000 end of year donations (which they do get on a regular basis), not $150 donations. Again, the need to make this donation was discussed many times on Texags. Don't blame the TMF for failing to do something that isn't consistent with their need to raise as much money as possible.

I understand getting six-figure donations takes priority over three-figure donations, but $150 is still more than $0, which is what they're getting from donors right now. If it takes a five minute phone call to get $150, I'd think that is worth it.

I spoke to someone at the TMF this morning and they confirmed the drop. They are expecting a majority of the membership to come back, but nowhere near the 10k that had dropped.

I may drop them next year but I made the minimum donation.
I was told explicitly I needed to do the minimum to reserve the tickets. Why would 12th man foundation not want to tell folks the minimum donation is needed. Do they not like money any more.

Perhaps the person you talked to was not as professional as the one talked to.

How is this sneaky? They don't care about your points, they would rather you keep donating.

They pretty well defined this early on. When I called to defer they said I needed to make a minimum donation (as low as $100) yo maintain my status.

Thanks for this. I called just now and they are clueless about this situation. I moved my tickets to 21 and thought all was fine. I thought wrong. My account was inactive. I ended up donating the $150. I wish they had highlighted this in the beginning so I would not have had to find out in a message board.

I'm not 100% sure. I don't think you're a full member if you give less than $150, so if you give $100, maybe that still keeps up the years of consecutive giving for when you join back up, but I'm not sure that you actually have any priority points at all for that year you didnt give anything. Personally I've been giving $150 per year in years where I dont have football or basketball tickets.

OK, it looks like associate membership (up to $149) does give you the consecutive giving points. But you give up the access to donor pre-sales if you arent up to $150 though. Which essentially means your points are worthless for that year since what you need them for is like bowl game or NCAA tournament tickets.
JJxvi
How long do you want to ignore this user?
So, to sum up...$150 if you think you might want your points to help you get a ticket opportunity in that season. You can give less than that to just keep your points up for future years.

Ok that's how I read it too... but in all honesty you need a ton of points to get a bowl game etc.

FYI I just called the 12th man foundation.

$25 is the minimum donation.

My priority points are currently not showing up. They said if I do not donate this year I will drop to zero points but all my points except the consecutive giving bonus will return. If I donate $25 or more, my points will return right away.

$150 is the minimum for a membership, but $25 is the minimum for priority points giving bonus.

I'm thinking my plan is to give $25 to keep my points and next year my seat donation will kick in to restore my full membership. Meaning I won't lose out on anything.
