The OL is our strength and kellen mond is a big bodied QB. That was the right call. Kellen just needs to know there is a difference between the goal line and first down line.

OP is correct. When both lines pinched-in like that there was no way to find a crease in that mass of humanity. I was hoping he'd realize that and call a timeout or have a call out of the play.

with everyone collapsing and pinching down mond could have bounced it left and made the yardage instead of being a dumbass.

I don't disagree with the comments on mond. Still think it's the right call with such a short gain needed. Handoff allows time for the DL to breakthrough and disrupt the play. It was 4th and a foot. Not 4th and a yard or more

LSU did it just fine in their 2nd half short yardage situations where they crowded the line.

Just a bone head play to try and "break the plane" when there is no plane unless you are on the goal line.

I think it was the right play call, and I'm sure Jimbo thought that Mond would duck under the center like every other D1qb would in that situation, but Mond showed his football IQ on that play.

Looked like the whole LSU defense was in the box the entire second half.

it completely shutdown Mond and offense for rest of game.

The football IQ shown by Mond was average 9th grade level bad.

I didn't like the call either. My preference would have been normal splits and a formation that made them respect the corners and perhaps the pass and then have given it to Spiller. He has shown he is hard to get on the ground at first contact. But Jimbo thought he had something there, that's good enough for me. The decision by Mond to stick the ball out and subsequent fumble changed the complexion of the game and final outcome. That touchdown would have been the first dagger to the heart of quit.

Unfortunately this is another of the many evidentiary acts that have built the case against Mond's intelligence. The list is long. The NFL scouts want smart QBs.

It'll be really interesting to see how Mond's Wunderlic score compares to a certain championship winning QB in Austin.

Should've spread out and brought in Achane to join Spiller in the backfield. Then run a better play.

I think the OLine plays well as a unit, from a technical standpoint. Not sure they're overly dominant in raw power though.

I watched the saints play on the goal line where they lined up 9 OL, the QB and RB, and brees little butt ran it in barely touched.

If nothing more, marbles would have wasted a time out once he saw the alignment.

that play reminded me a bit of when Vince Young tried to extend the ball over the goal line against us in '04 & it got knocked from his hands. Jonte Buhl picked up the fumble & returned it for an Aggie TD.

Both were boneheaded efforts but al least Mond's didn't get returned for an LSU TD.

Dead wrong. Bad call. Mond does not know how to run a QB sneak, up the middle with a gap defense. He leans into the line and does not use his legs. He does not use his strength and size. Guess what. The opposing teams know it and they know Fisher. It is a call that has had low success due to Mond and our weak OL.

I have no problem with Mond reaching the ball ON 4th DOWN when you know you're short. That's what you're supposed to do. But I guess a bunch of yall also **** a brick when a team that's down by 6 starts to do a bunch of laterals and gives up a TD at the end of the game to blow the spread, so I wouldn't expect yall to understand.

Demonstrates a lack of Situational Awareness.

The call was fine, the OL splits were fine, the OL push was fine, everything was fine except the execution of the QB. It was less than 1/2 yard. All he has to do is fall forward on an OLs butt and it's a 1st down.

Could have been 17-0 at HT and we would have been on our way to 30-7 or something like that, as it was, once it was 20-0 and the D playing so dominant and Mond being so inaccurate, Jimbo dialed it back and settled for the defensive slugfest a** kicking, which was awesome in it's own way.

We have already done QB sneak on 4th and 1 near midfield, and will do so again, and Mond will not make that same mistake, a mistake he should not have made in the first place. But Mond is.............. Mond.

It does seem like Achane ( state champ in 200m) for a toss would be something you'd like them to have to think about it in that scenario.
