5ish games to go, what's acceptable now? What's not?

I don't think we should lose more than 1 more game. Including the bowl. Two more total would be OK if one were the bowl. I think we have what it takes to not lose another unless we go to the playoffs.

Stay healthy and win one game at a time. Unacceptable would be if we have 9 penalties for 100 yards again on Saturday.

We should expect to finish 9-1 with the way the league is shaping up, but that's a tall task. Losing two more games is a major let-down.

ETA: I'm obviously speaking about regular season only.

Anything less than 8-2 would be a let down at this point.

My reaction if we go...

• 5-5: not even gonna consider it.
• 6-4: What? is Sumlin November a thing again. We underperformed.
• 7-3: it's about what I expected preseason. We should've finished stronger, but it's an alright season.
• 8-2: Great season. Yeah, we lost to a team I probably think we should've beat, but all but a couple teams in CFB do. Really liking what I see for the future, now let's mop up the recruits. It might hurt to know how close we were to the playoff but it would be great considering some of you slappies have been calling Jimbo a mistake. This shows we are headed in the right direction.
• 9-1: We are playoff bound, barring a UGA victory over Bama, and even then, we might be in. The dream goal for many of us, although it seemed an unreasonably high bar to reach imo, was to compete for championships beginning in 2020, yet here we are. Phenomenal season, even if we can't win anything beyond Auburn. Now bring me Clemson.

7-3 = exceeded expectations

At this point you have to say expectations have changed a bit. Before the season I would have been cool with 7-3 or 8-2. At this point anything less than 8-2 would be a disappointment. I personally think we have a good chance of going 9-1.

Barring significant injury or COVID impacts, I'm going to be really disappointed if we drop 2 more games.

I think 9-1 is an achievable goal, 8-2 should be worst case.

I don't think 9-1 gets us in the playoff unless a lot breaks our way. We'll have only one win over a team in the committee's final poll if we go 9-1.

This place will have a meltdown for the ages if we exceed expectations at 8-2.

That being said, we need to go 9-1.

For 2020, I'd be pleased with 7-3 and a bowl win. 8-2 with a bowl win would be great (or maybe even a competitive bowl loss against a big time program) . I'd be effing ecstatic with 9-1.

Edit: What I'd really most like right now though is for our team to kick the living shnitzel outta USCe.

I am surprised they are where they are. Already exceeded my (very low) expectations. Sense that there could be an opportunity here but alot that is not in their control. Seeding osu and oregon so highly all but assures the ags will be on the outside at selection time. It'll take one of bama, osu, oregon or Clemson losing. Doubt that happens.

7-3. Said 6-4 before the season. Most of the schedule is not as good as expected

UF- as expected
MSU- worse
Arkie- better
SC- as expected
UT- slightly worse
OM- slightly worse
LSU- worse
AUB- worse

ETA: to me, "acceptable " is only a slightly better word than "tolerable." I expect us to finish 8-2. But that assumes no serious attrition and no terrible breaks or blown calls. It would not take much for a third loss.

i am not in the position where my "acceptable" affects anything.

based on what we've seen so far from the ags and the competition i would characterize anything less than an 8-and-2 regular season as disappointing.

I was wishing for 7-3 but expected 6-4.

Boy was I wrong.

Beginning of season 6-4 I could stomach. Now I would be disappointed if we end up 7-3 but it is still a successful season. 8-2 or above would be amazing.

Oh great, another 8 win season.

9-1 plus a bowl win unless it's in the playoff.

We need help to get in, but I don't think it's outrageous.

* Clemson beats ND twice starting Saturday.
* Alabama beats whoever in the SEC championship game.
* Probably better to have FL beat GA this Saturday.
* BYU and Cincy stumbles along the way.

Last one is the most iffy. Does the committee put an undefeated BYU/Cincy in over a one loss A&M? History says yes, but the committee will hear about it.

Auburn is my only concern, would hate to lose to them but their mobile QB gives me concerns

We are headed in the right direction:

• Good O-Line making holes for our RBs and giving Mond time to throw, building dominance and confidence
• Balanced Offense working and keeping Defenses off guard, 50% run and 50% pass, I like it, we are finally unpredictable
• TE, yes!!!! we have a TE program finally and Jalen is killing it, waited long time for this
• D-Line, when healthy, can be dominant, not BAMA dominant, but good enough to rush just 4 is awesome
• WR play is coming along, I like our options here with Smith and Lane, others coming a long

Concerns

• Deep ball threat, we have no answer for the big play
• Mobile QBs, fast LB's stop that last minute escapes, we have no answer
• Safeties cannot cover fast WR, great tacklers in run game, getting tired of seeing them get beat

If we address the concerns and stay course we go 9-1

If we do not address the concerns, not surprised with 7-3 or 8-2 (Ole Miss & Auburn likely b/c weak secondary)

Preseason I predicted 7-3.
At this time 8-2 is my prediction and should be very attainable.
9-1 would be an outstanding season.

Get to a big time bowl and win it. I'm tired of never making major bowls.

Both Tennessee and Auburn have shown they can play well on any given day. I won't be surprised, nor disappointed, if we lose to one of them, provided UT or AUB plays lights out. I would be very disappointed if we lost to both.

Losing to LSU at home would ruin the season for me, even if we beat every other team.

I think 7-3 is meeting expectations. That's what I think most people will say is "acceptable". I predicted 8-2 at beginning of season and I believe that's how it will go still.

I see progress with the program to a high standard and that's exactly where The Jimbo hire was expected to take us.

Somehow this board went from "lets start our freshman QB" to "if we win out we could make the playoffs"

Lordy...

Anything less than 9-1 to finish the season will be considered underachieving to me. We should be favored in every remaining game and from what we've shown so far we are better than the remaining teams on the schedule.

If we finish 8-2 it will be a solid season when looked at it from the preseason mindset, but now that we're halfway through and LSU, Auburn, and Tenn look like average teams 5-0 in the last 5 is the expectation. Now if Auburn gets hot then that game may be looked at differently, but for now 5-0.

**All based on injuries and covid.

A loss during the last 5 would feel like the game we dropped to Auburn in 18, decent team but Ags should have taken care of business.
