247 has tu gaining major ground on what was perceived to be a heavy lean for the good guys.

Anyone have any intel? or is this just a natural up and down of the 'process"?

From what I've learned on recruiting is that "heavy leans" are still a 50/50 chance.

No excuse for missing on top RBs again this year. Gotta get 1 of top 2...shoot, we have room for both. Can't get shut out at top.

I wonder what made them post these crystal balls out of nowhere. Haven't been any visits from what I can see - and the kid hasn't had any social media updates in 3 months.

Got Fonged to sips yesterday. For the life of me I don't understand...... how many kids have to go to tu, find out what a ****ing weirdo Herman is and transfer out before the rest of them start getting it?

Maybe he's just playing recruiting games. Hope so anyway. He's been an Ag lean for too long. And we need this kid.

Patience is key. He's still in constant contact with the coaches. It may happen but it may not.

I still feel pretty good about Jimbo closing on LJ. The sips have some momentum right now, but I wouldn't put too much stock into those crystal balls. That was pretty much just a chain reaction of CBs after one guy took a guess.

If we do end up missing on LJ, we've got some good names on the board. Byron Cardwell, Yulkeith Brown to name a couple, as well as Amari Daniels out of Florida who staff has been pursuing for quite a while now.

It's not just that Herman is a weirdo, it's more importantly that he does not have a good track record of developing players. If I'm a recruit and objectively looking at where gives me a better chance to get to the NFL, then Jimbo has a greater advantage by far based on his track record, on top of playing in the SEC to go against the best.

The only thing I can think of is that tu is just wearing him out by out-contacting other schools, which makes the analysts think he's going there?

Absolutely want LJ but don't forget about Audric Estime. He is another good RB and we did make his latest cut.

I wonder if our depth is working against us? Also,
Jimbo strongly prefers experience.

He would compete for carries in '21 against spiller, ainias, achane, and 3 more power backs. Unless he is awesome, he plays STs as a fish. Figure spiller and ainias probably declare or transfer after '21.

But in '22, he would still have to be significantly better than the '20 rbs to play.

The sips will say goodbye to ingraham after '20. Roschon johnson is not going to play the after '20. Either they give him a shot at qb or he will transfer. Derrien Brown may never play bc of the heart condition.

No other rb currently on the roster got 20 carries last year. Bijan Robinson will probably Be good for them, but Rb2 usually gets plenty of carries. Bijan was the only end they recruited last year.

Depth at RB? Don't think that is a problem.

Herman will probably guarantee him carries as a fish. Herman probably only has 1 maybe 2 rbs worth a crap besides lj, IF he signs with them.

Jimbo guarantees him nothing.

No chance he goes sip with the way they run their offense

This kid's gotta be smarter than that. Everyone knows Jimbo is always going to have a RB with tons of yardage. Probably having fun with the recruitment... or the bagmen coming in heavy

Your logic is sound. Jimbo would teach him pass protection and to catch out of the backfield. Things he must do in the nfl. Jimbo would also probably only put half the mileage on his body that Herman would.

Experience has taught me not to presume rational decision making from hs athletes. Many kids are sold on playing as true fish and do not think longer term.

Quote:

"I forecasted Texas A&M back in the spring or early summer," Wiltfong told 247Sports analyst Josh Pate on 'Wiltfong's Recruiting Whiparound.' "And I think the Aggies are still in a great spot for one of the most dynamic and electrifying running backs in the country in LJ Johnson. They've recruited him as their top running back target in this cycle where maybe some other schools have recruited a handful of guys equally. Jimbo Fisher, Tommy Robinson and the Aggies have settled in on LJ Johnson and said 'you're our number one guy' from the beginning, and I think that put them in a great position to land him.

"There was a time where I thought Georgia was the biggest competitor for Texas A&M. But I think that's kind of changed a little bit. I think the Texas Longhorns have made a major move in recruiting LJ Johnson talking to someone close to LJ, and you also read Mike Roach's article on Horns247 (VIP)where LJ himself said no program is recruiting him harder than Texas. So I think they really like [Texas running backs coach] Stan Drayton over there. I think Georgia is still involved, but the darkhorse I'm told is Auburn, and Chad Morris has all those ties to Texas -- Auburn's offensive coordinator. Obviously their quarterback recruit Dematrius Davis from North Shore (TX) who is the most decorated high school football player in the entire country, has the respect of all his peers in the Lonestar State...Demitrius Davis has LJ Johnson thinking about playing with him at Auburn. I'm going to stick with A&M on the Crystal Ball for now, but I'm really watching Texas as they try and land another big time back to come in behind Bijan Robinson -- who I've heard has looked excellent -- and push him in that running backs room."

When is that from, cause he (Wiltfong) currently has him CB'd to austin.

EDIT: Looks like that was from 8/6 and 5 days later (on 8/11) he moved his CB to tu - guess he continued to hear noise about them...

LJ to tu and Wheaton to OU would be a RB recruiting disaster for us.
Both of these guys are elite. I thought LJ was in the bag with Robinson coming over from LSU as running back coach.

I can tell you why kids go to tu. NCAA rules don't apply to tu. They give them everything, $$, cars, tickets to parents,ec. How many times has anyone ever heard of tu being investigated and if so what were the results? I've heard so many times, "Texas doesn't have to give under the table benefits, athletes just want to go there." Now does anyone really believe that???!!! I'm class of "70, I've never witnessed tu ever being place on probation in my 72 yoa. Let A&M sneeze in the direction of the NCAA and sanctions and years of probation come raining down.

Agree. The luster is off. The coach is a weirdo. The coach before him sucked. Mack rode the hype his last 4 years. They have not been known for development this century. Herman is a slightly upgraded version of rick neuheisal. Good for a big win or 2 annually, but also for a letdown or 3. They play in a crap conference against programs that get a kid drafted every other year.

The '21 class were 5 year olds the last time the sips Mattered. It does not add up.

They lost to the turtles ....twice. They are what you never want to be....irrelevant. OU is the only power in this league and they get beat every time they play a SEC team. No team from the cow 10 has ever won a playoff game. Enough said.

Horns are selling a dream right now... if they don't perform on the field it will all fall apart for them.
