First of all, I wanted to thank you all for the continued support. It's very much appreciated!

Family Update: We took Brooks to Lake Buchanan this past month and he enjoyed his boat ride. I am glad I finally have a good excuse to buy a boat now.

Okay on to insurance....

Hurricane season has started and, like everyone else, I'm hoping we avoid any major storms this year. However, we all know that tropical storms and hurricanes can lead to substantial rainfall and the possibility of flooding. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ARE COVERED. Here are a few flood insurance facts/suggestions for hurricane season:

1. Your home insurance will NOT cover rising water from outside your home (flooding)
2. 57% of homes that flooded during Hurricane Harvey were in "low-risk" flood zones, meaning you were not required (by your mortgage company) to have flood insurance
3. 1" of flood water can cause $25,000 in damage
4. There is a 30 day wait from the day you purchase the policy to your coverage being in force
This 30 day wait doesn't apply if you're in the process of purchasing a home/refinancing (coverage will be effective on your closing date)
5. Check your home insurance policy and see what your Wind/Hail OR your Named storm deductible is. If it seems high, it probably is.

Below is the standard flood insurance pricing set by the NFIP (National Flood Insurance Program). Give me a call if you're interested in setting up a policy I'm happy to help!

Stay safe friends, I look forward to speaking with you.
