After seeing the progress of this team the past few weeks, finally finding their identity how do we feel as a fanbase? Originally I was skeptical but I think this Georgia team is beatable if we do the little things right, SCAR beat them and TENN hung with em for a while. Is this a perfect storm where we put everything together and Jimbo gets his second staple win as the Aggies Head Coach?

We have to stop the run.
We have to get to Fromm.
We have to limit them to FG's.

We have to establish a running game.
We have to give Mond time.

I have some faith in the defense, but unfortunately, I am not convinced our offense will be up to the task.

Georgia takes the win with a few big plays and the points. Our offense regresses setting up for a painful LSU game.

Georgia has a fairly decent talent edge but it is just one game so you never know.

My only worry is their ability to stop the run. When we get hit in the mouth are we going to get back up.

We can beat them, but it's going to take the game of the year from our offense, which just seems highly unlikely. Every week we're like "ok, the offense got it figured out and they're going to come out firing," but they just always start so lethargic. If that happens against UGA, we're done in the first half. That's not a team you can play from behind against.

Georgia deserves a beat-down for making the sips look good. Don't care how "talented" they are.

We haven't beaten a SEC team with a winning record, so it would be a nice start.

if the OL keeps improving like they have been, we'll be able to effective enough on the ground not to be one dimensional.

This is a big test for our defense and I think we'll match up well.

Not trying to down talk this Georgia team, they are obviously very good. It just seems like we are much improved from the last time we played a top tier opponent. I think Georgia is vulnerable (at least more so than LSU) this is a great opportunity for the team to run a collective benchmark. Overall really happy with the progression of this squad and excited to see where we go the rest of this year, and very excited/optimistic for next year.

14 is correct just by looking at the season averages. 14 is questionable if we really are the teams that played MSU and SC.

Now, SC was a perfect storm for UGA.

1. SC had (back then) a good run defense and was able to force UGA to throw
2. SC had DBs who can pick the ball and the front could get pressure
3. From had an especially bad game, which included a pick6

Our defense does not match up as well. SC had the DBs to man-up. The front got pressure. SC ran enough on to protect the defense.

We must RPO them just like SC. They will man up and force Mond. If Mond can do that consistently, its on. But, their DBs are as good or better than our WRs.

I dont like our chances. Need 1-2 more big breaks than them. If that happens, we win.

Will take Ags best effort of the season to have a shot.

Mond has to hit a couple of the deep throws he seems to miss.
I wanna see our defense pissed off, not confused, maybe a little murder in their hearts Reload12, 11/4/11

Keys:

1. Tackle in space - UGA has nothing in the way of deep threats. It's all dink and dunk. Lots of TE's and RB's catching the ball in the flats. Have to tackle well.

2. Don't turn it over. We can stay in it running the ball and playing field position, but a turnover will kill us.

3. Mond and the WR's don't have to be amazing, but they need to take advantage a couple times when the opportunity is there.

4. Make our FG's

I think we can win this 20-17 or something, but I don't think we can win a shootout.

I disagree that Georgia has more talent. They have an expectation of beating us. We have a pervasive culture that thinks we are not good enough to beat teams like Georgia, which is our biggest problem that we have to overcome. Georgia is also in the weaker division, and the SEC desperately needs an east team to be relevant, so Georgia will get the benefit of calls, which they have already this season. We can beat Georgia by continuing to use Richardson and Spiller in the backfield at the same time and running the ball. They also improve our pass protection. If Georgia and LSU have to account for 3 runners it improves our chances greatly. Also continue to play physical defense. We brought pressure against USCe on third downs. It is worth the risk of giving up big plays to hit Fromm and Burrow often. Our LB's are playing better. Hines is coming on. We controlled the ball over 41 minutes against USCe. Run effectively against Georgia and LSU, and keep their qb's off the field.

Our offense is statistically better than Georgia's but not by much.

Georgia's defense is statistically better than ours and it is by a fair amount. Basically, we have a good defense while they have a great defense.

One thing that gives me hope is that they don't really have any game breakers in the passing game like Clemson and Bama so we might be able to focus more on the run.

As long as our Oline doesn't get totally outclassed, I expect a close game and not real high scoring. I think 30 points by either team will win it easily. 24-20 or 24-17 type score. Turnovers will be key.

I live in the middle of Bulldog country and my take on this is:
1) A&M offense can't turn the ball over.
2) A&M defense needs to get UGA out of their comfort zone. Make them one dimensional and UGA is very beatable. They start to press and panic and consequently start making mistakes.
Do those two things and the the Ags have a good shot at winning rhe game.

We absolutely, without a doubt, have to score more points than Georgia, if we want to win this one.

You do understand that this "progress" the last 4 games has all come against teams with losing records.
Georgia, at home, with all of their talent, would rate the Ags chance for an upset at 10%.

I've seen us improve significantly in a few areas
  • pass defense
  • receiving
  • run game (both at RB and the O line)
  • Mond setting the tone for the team
But my realistic take has to include the fact that we still haven't beaten a very good team and our O line caused Mond to take a lot of hits this weekend, so I still fear our ability to pass block.

But heck it ags, we have found a stride just like we did right before LSU last year. Our big men on the D-line hold the front and the LBs stop the run, Elko schemes up a gem for Jake Fromm. Ags control the clock and wear down the defense while Kellen feeds and the receivers eat, opening up the run game late for big plays late in the game. Ags win 642-15

You can disagree all you want, but it doesn't make you right.

There's a lot of truth in what you said, but Georgia absolutely has more talent than Texas A&M. Just look at their past 3-4 recruiting classes.

Granted, A&M is a top 10-15 talented team right now. And Jimbo is well on his way to making A&M a consistently top 5-8 talented team.

Also, Jimbo is instilling the culture to have the confidence to beat any team, including teams like Georgia. The mindset is there, even if the results may not be.

UGA lost to SC...that, of course, doesn't translate to US winning but the very notion of invincibility is bull****!

If SC, a team significantly less talented and with a less capable coach can beat them, then there's a decent chance we can leave Athens with a W...

L$U...I think that's a much more likely L

Its the way we won. We looked bad vs Arkie and OM. We dominated MSU and SC. I think we were supposed to win each by 10. The computers punished us for the pick6 by the backup in junk time vs UTSA. My eyes said we held serve in that game. So, 3 consecutive solid performances in my book.

Again, I dont think we win unless turnovers or other big breaks. I believe we are better than the team that got pushed around by Auburn.

We used to pull off a big upset just about every year. Before LSU last year, Bama in '12 was the last one. I can't quite tell if we have a better shot at Georgia or LSU, but we have a shot in both.. so yes, the Ags can beat em. And getting both will start to make up for the dark times in the sumlin era...

These are the type of games 75 million dollar coaches are paid to win. Don't care about the odds, don't care about the talent, Georgia is beatable and we should be in position to win in the 4th. Otherwise, we're paying too much for our coach.

Can we? YES
Will we? Umm

Georgia has given up one (1) rushing TD in ten games (Auburn in 10th game)! We will be very one dimensional! That will allow Georgia to put Mond in his "Flake Out Zone"! Expect him to get sacked six (6) times, knocked down ten (10) times and rushed eight (8) times. Lots of over throws and poor route running.

If our defense comes to play, maybe we can state in it going into the fourth.... then anything can happen!

Georgia's d-line will set the tone.
If they get pressure without blitzing, it's going to be ugly.

Here's how I see this game going;

The Georgia defense is very good, an exceptional against the run (75 yards per game)

We are going to have a tough time running the ball and will need our backs to scrap and fight for those 2,3,4 yard gains to help us stay on schedule and keep the UGA defense honest

We then need to be efficient in our passing game and then hit the occasional big play because it's going to be damn difficult to move the ball methodically down the field against this UGA defense

On defense we need to stop the run, then stop the run again and stop the run som more, and we can't give up that big "gash" run that goes for 30, to, 50 and even a TD

There are going to be a lot of punts in this game, from both teams

Field goal kickers will also be a huge key

Small needs to have the best game of his life and be perfect. Can't miss any kicks because you won't get many chances to score

Simply cannot waste a good drive by missing a field goal

Special teams overall need to be exceptional

Punting, kicking, returns all need to be great

Hidden yards will be key

Starting at the 30-35 as opposed to the 10-15 is going to be huge

That's 2 less first downs needed vs a stingy defense

Gonna be a tough, hard-nosed game between two teams that play old school nick saban football (pre Tua)

I expect a score with the winner in the low 20's

Say 23-16, 2213, 23-20 etc...

If UGA does cover the 13.5 then it's more like 27-10. 24-9 or even 30-16; something like that
