If you were the AD, what changes would you make to the program or game day management? We have a lot of venting going on, but since we're all 'experts' here, what would you do? I would question Jimbo on his game day management or reaction to special teams play. We had no business punting as normal (out-kicking coverage) today. We needed to kick OB, soccer style, or some other way to keep it out of Waddle's hands. I would question whether he had immediate input into game day decisions. Fire away.

If I was the AD...I'd stay out of the way and let my coach figure it out.

Put Jimbo Fisher on a 60 day corrective action plan.

Same way the A&M AD always handles it. Gives it 2-4 more years. Then requires position coaching changes (one per year to generate false hope and buy time). Then top secret probation. Then the coach is paid a bunch of money to go away.

It's the circle of Aggie life.

Exactly right.
AD needs to stay out of the way at this time.

A better plan is to only hire head coaches on single year or single game contracts.

If I was the ad I'd be rounding up a crap ton of Aggie bag men to shell out some cash so we can get some legitimate talent on our 8th grade b team roster

Yeah, the fire will be our recruiting burning to the ground when the coaching uncertainty is conveyed to prospects by our rivals

No A&M coach will ever answer to the AD. What world do you people live in?

1. Change name permanently to Texas Aggies and instruct all announcers to call us such. We must brand ourselves on the same level as Texas. Instead of being Texas A&M Aggies, we need to be the equal program with them, Just in maroon

2. Get rid of the bevel.

3. Fire the DJ and stop the jock jams crap

Most ADs nowadays are pencil pushing administrators. They couldn't organize a daily practice schedule, much less take on the task of "game day" management. They're are in place to raise money and build facilities.

No more guaranteed contracts. This does not promote success. I think our coaches get lazy or lack of that drive when we give them generational life changing money without worry.

If they are too chicken**** to come in here and put in the effort to earn the money then find someone else.

ND is doing just fine without Elko. It's the program. Something is terribly wrong here. Our defense is no better than before Elko got here. Why the hell does he deserve this contract? I think we spend money in the wrong areas.

Well, it's rather apparent that the head coaching community sure knows where to come in order to get big dollar contracts with big dollar firing clauses, with no reasonable timetable for success!

I would guess that for $75M, success is pretty well defined as just staying close to the competition!

You aren't getting a decent coach anywhere without a guaranteed contract. That just isn't happening anymore.

Maybe the AD can hire a crapton of "consultants" like Saban does at Alabama. And let them do whatever it is that they do. What that is I have no idea, but I do know that Saban doesn't order a pizza unless he's figured out how it will give his team a competitive advantage.

I would have a "come to Jesus" chat with Jimbo about the fact that perception --- especially educated perception --- by others (fans, donors, ESPN commentators, SEC teams and coaches) has, in our case, become reality. The perception is that some members of his coaching staff are ... painfully ... not cutting it and that those deficiencies are obviously making it impossible to win, must less stay close in, football games. The overall perception is that the team is mentally and physically soft/weak and seems interested in remaining mediocre rather than excellent. Those couple of statements should open the conversation to some responses other than, "Blah, blah, blah. We just didn't execute. I'll have to look at the film. We gotta work on that" and any number of other inane responses to even more inane and pu**y questions from people who call themselves "sports journalists" (who are, in fact, a bunch of suck ups who are afraid of being shut out of the Aggie locker room if they get too inquisitive).

100% guaranteed dumbass. We are the only ones desperate enough to do it every single time. Not even Saban has that. They all have some kind of buyout.

Again, if you want to steal a big name coach with a national title that's what it's going to cost you or they have no incentive to leave.

As far as press conferences go, I see Jimbo as a praise in public, criticize in private kind of guy, which is pretty standard for a good leader. I don't think it does a player much good for a head coach to call him out in front of the media. Doesn't mean these a$$ chewing aren't happening behind closed doors. Also, a good coach will read his players...if they lack confidence, it's more praise and instructing. If they're not focused, you'll see more screaming. We don't know these players so it's hard to tell what's required.

My BAS is flaring up, but I'm convinced you could bring Saban to College Station and we'd still be in the same boat. Our problems are systemic and cannot be solved with any coaching hire.
