Is the new e-ticket platform. TMF just sent out an email with details.

Big downgrade in my mind. FlashSeats was a better user experience at a better price.

Seems to just be a way to grab more revenue from season ticket holders.

Not a bad move in my opinion... Both FlashSeats and Stubhub have easy to navigate features and are intuitive to use. The announcement says that free transfers will still be an option, so that's a plus for sending tickets to friends, family, coworkers or customers without a fee. And getting tickets is easy as well... Also, Stubhub has a greater reach and larger market than Flash, so more potential buyers if you are on the selling side, and more listings if you are on the buying side.

I can imagine this will not sit well with non-season ticket holders that preyed on cheap ticket listings on FlashSeats. As a buyer, I think StubHub may be a bit more expensive, but the TMF does not have the job of looking out for secondary buyers, their responsibility is to the 12th Man, the Athletic department, and the donors and season ticket holders. As long as I have a means to transfer tickets to friends with no charge, or list tickets to sell when I have extras, I'm fine if they are a bit more expensive to the buyers...

And I have to think the TMF is getting a better deal or they wouldn't have changed partners. I remember the move from Nike to Adidas, and that was a no-brainer for the athletic department. Pay lots to Nike and get no support, or get paid lots to wear Adidas and get better support. That was a smart business decision, and I have to think StubHub is making it worthwhile for the 12th Man to make this move.

Why is that? First game is August 30th.

Agreed, waiting isn't that bad of a deal. And if you are wanting to sell tickets, you can still list them, just put the delivery date after Aug 13th... there are currently tons of tickets already for sale on StubHub.

In the first paragraph of the email in red that was sent to 12th Man donors...

"No action is required at this time. Football season tickets (printed and digital delivery) will be delivered the week of Aug. 13 and more information on how to transfer your tickets free of charge as well as list and sell your tickets using your 12th Man Foundation account will be available at that time"

Outside of the bid functionality of FlashSeats, what feature or benefit did that platform provide that made it the jam?

It is free to list tickets for sale, and to search for tickets to buy on StubHub. On each completed transaction, the buyer pays a 10% fee, and a 15% commission is deducted from the seller's payment. For example, on the sale of a $100 ticket, the buyer would pay $110. The seller would net $85.
they make 25% commission on every ticket.

Yes, and now the 12th Man will get some % of those fees. Stubhub was already responsible for the majority of ticket dollar transactions, but no % came to us. Now we will get some of it coming back to A&M on every sale though StubHub.

Sellers will probably just list higher to offset the fees on their side, so it will make higher prices for buyers.

TMF needs to follow the lead of Dallas Cowboys, being the first NFL franchise to break free from the STUBHUB fee madness, and go with SEAT GEEK as its ticket broker. Seat Geek is the way to go.

Ok. I was wrong. Both the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints have dumped STUBHUB / Ticketmaster and gone with seat geek.

F ticketmaster/stubhub!

  • If you have an account with the 12th Man Foundation, you can list your tickets on StubHub by logging into your account.

What about people WITHOUT accounts?

  • Listing your tickets only takes a few minutes and StubHub can help you price.

Will I be able to list my tickets for BELOW face value for the crappy games to try to get a little bit of my money back or will I be forced to list at face value and not get any money for my tickets?

TMF did what was best financially for TMF. Can't fault them for that. Transfer of tix will still be free thru a TMF account. I never sold on FS anyway, just transferred for free. FS had a steep fee to sellers. I also never gave deep discounts to face on TATE. If it took that, I just donated my tix and wrote them off. Disabled vets, kids, etc. No way I am going to facilitate cheap skates getting tix for nearly free while members donate and pay full price. Winning will increase demand and go a long way to stopping that practice. Kyle Field has not been a home field advantage for at least 4 years. That has to change, and I think it's going to soon.

Preyed on? You were so close to coming off looking like an objective observer. Interesting word choice to use for people engaged in voluntary commerce.

So Stubhub doesn't have a bid/offer option? That's wasnt just a single feature of FS, it was a huge feature for both buyers and sellers, especially for very last minute transactions.

This probably won't hurt TATE. Why pay SH 25% (15 seller, 10 buyer). Just sell on TATE and transfer free. I never sold or bought on FS.

I'm not objective at all... It's supply and demand, and sometimes there is too much supply and no demand, so money is lost by the ticket owner. I get that, but I'm a season ticket holder (football, basketball, baseball, volleyball) who constantly reads TexAgs users preaching that they have given up their seats, they buy them below face value every week, and that the stadium was over built, and that they wont support the TMF for this reason or that reason, and why would you ever make donations and pay full price when you can take advantage of the extra tickets that will always be available for the majority of games... I'm a sucker for A&M and I know it... So yes, it stings sometimes when I have to dump tickets for one reason or another, and someone gets the benefit of my misfortune. And though I have given tickets away for years, and usually sell at face value, it doesn't bother me for anyone to scalp or sell their tickets at a premium when they get the opportunity.. that's also supply and demand... But I know I am not objective on ticket sales... When I am buying, I want them as cheap as possible. When I am selling, I want them as expensive as possible... And as a season ticket holder, i'm usually selling, not buying...

Never used FS for buying/selling but used it a lot for transferring tickets to family/friends. It was slick and easy. It is not clear how we will use the TMF site for this now, but the TMF site is extremely user unfriendly compared to FS. Clearly TMF is moving forward with the business of sports entertainment, will reserve judgement until I see the free ticket transfer process.

Well, when I read their commission on the FS site, I immediately decided not to sell ever on FS. It was more than I was willing to pay. Maybe they reduced it in subsequent years.

I have no problem selling at face. I chose to donate. I also have no priblem with sellers wanting the buyer to participate in the donation on a prorated basis. However, the prorated donation portion should be reduced about 20 % because the buyer has no way to write it off. But I will never sell at a deep discount to face. I'd rather give the tix away
