I lost an argument with the promoter. I told him that playing up the A&M angle was a bad idea.

In wrestling, you want the whole crowd leaning the same direction. Be a face, and have them all love you, or be a heel and have them all hate you. You don't want to be stuck in the middle.

A "Psycho Aggie" angle works well if I am a face in College Station, or a heel in Austin or Lubbock. But in Ft Worth...? The Aggies in the crowd love you and the others hate you or don't care. Makes for tough sledding...

I did...? I was a backup tight end in high school, with one recruiting letter from Air Force because I had good grades.

I don't think I had much of a "choice"...

Wow this is reall cool actually. How long did you do this?

Wrestling school for 9 months, then probably wrestled about 8 matches. The whole beaten with a chair / hospital angle was because I had to travel to Israel for a month for work.

Unfortunately, when I got back I tore my ACL playing pickup basketball, and that basically ended it. By the time I had surgery and rehabbed, my first daughter was on the way and I no longer had the time and moved to sports writing and stupid youtube videos instead...

I still miss it. That was about 16 years ago.

I think the announcer said you chose wrestling over... I thought he said baseball. Then the b-hole announcer said he didn't choose, baseball choose for him.

Ahh, that is all shtick. I'm a terrible baseball player. I was a right handed first-baseman that couldn't hit. I quit playing in middle school...

John Rocker was big in the news at the time, so we were kind of playing off of that a little bit with the mentally unstable baseball player character. I didn't wrestle long enough to really let the story play out.
