His interview starts at 10:16. It's pretty refreshing to hear a coach actually talk a little football instead of just spewing crap like, "We uh uh uh just gotta execute. And our guys uh uh understand that." The more I hear from Jimbo, the more I'm impressed.

First time I can remember in a long, long time, listening to a Texas A&M Football Coach, closing my eyes and GRINNING. We have a real coach.

Not that RC and Jackie weren't , but you rarely heard them in this context.

The Process. Folks, this is a protge of Saban. The Process. It is not a quick fix, but a foundation for the future.

Remember, when it was first discovered we were in pursuit of Jimbo, the national press was in shock because we were Texas A&M, and we were overshooting our expectations because Jimbo was out of our league. We got him, and most were silent sans McElroy who thought it was a great hire. A month later, after we hired Jimbo, the same media that thought we were over reaching because we were "Texas A&M" and we should have been happy with Sumlin (the same ones that said Sumlin could not get it done at Texas A&M), said Jimbo was past his prime or in some cases, washed out.

That speaks VOLUMES. The national media is not "comfortable" with Jimbo at TAMU, because it has a definite chance to upset the applecart for the media. Some media mentioned we were the lovable loser because of our traditions, but questioned if we would be OK with the "bad guy" mantra. Bad guys for WHAT? Hiring a coach that we can afford to win? Get ready boys and girls, the media wants certain winners, not others, and if we win big in the next few years, we are going to hear it.

Good, I for one am READY. F the media. Winning is painful for the losers. Let them hurt. Salty tears taste better anyway. Media tears are best.
"Green" is the new RED.

They said the same thing about Jackie. And we all know what he accomplished. You've got to be a little cocky, VERY confident and have the ability to recruit. I think Jimbo has those.

Dang, brother. It's football. Calm down. You have some pent up aggression that has very little to do with football, methinks.

Great interview. I get more excited about Aggie football every time I hear Jimbo.

You ready to put the pads back on?
Would you run through a brick wall for Jimbo?

Just kidding I agree with your post. I like having enthusiasm around the program again.

Winning is what matters unless you're the type to sip hot chocolate in a onesie. Amen old sarge, amen.

I agree OldSarge. It's great to know something is coming. The excitement and anticipation at the Spring Game was palpable. The winds of change are upon us. We have stepped away from the insanity (ie. Doing the same things and expecting different results) and taken steps to create something better. The great thing is, once Jimbo and team create this change, it's not a stepping stone for him to move on. JIMBO loves college ball and all it entails, he's getting paid a truckload of money, he's got the best facilities and the best alumni support...its a chance for long-term greatness. Come on Aug 30th!!!

The parallels to Jackie are really striking. Not only did we hire away a national level coach at the top of his game, but you can see his vision and the way he is extending it to the entire Aggie family. And he is exploring what makes A&M unique, embracing it, and harnessing it for the program.

I've always felt that the true genius of the full 12th Man KO Squad was more than just the results on the field, but also what it brought to the locker room and practice field. Both in bringing intensity and desire, and in connecting the team deeply with the student body.

That it didn't work anywhere near as well at Mississippi State I think goes back to that uniqueness of A&M.

Agree on the 12th man KO squad.

Unfortunately, no one will be returning kicks this year, so that no longer matters...

If we can just get Jimbo to start talking about himself in third person like Jackie did then we have a chance of being good.

Carl Malone talked about himself in the 3rd person. So.....

He looks and sounds like such a good coach that I'm inclined to blame any failure in the past on the coordinators. Unfortunately he's they key coordinator on offense. Lol. Hopefully he'll consider paying someone 2 million dollars a year to do that if his way of playcalling ever stalls.

Jimbo has the blueprint to be successful at the highest levels of CFB, and he's executing it before our eyes. He is instilling a time-proven strategy to raise A&M to the top, because he has done it before (unlike previous regimes wandering in the wildnerness hoping to find what works).

What also excites me is the fact that Jimbo isn't afraid to adapt, and hires like Dickey at OC and Elko at DC prove that. Both are innovative yet very fundamentally sound football-strategists and recruiters that will allow our schemes to evolve and not remain stagnant.

I want everyone including the media to keep underestimating A&M, and putting us on the backburner...all the while we collect the spoils of CFB's elite.

Jackie was the perfect parallel here.

People ( especially the media) made fun of us. I was young and my parents are both tu grads. I remember hearing them laugh about how our new million dollar coach wouldn't be enough.

Then I watched them cry when TAMU kicked the crap out of tu every, single, year lol

TAMU made Jackie the highest paid coach in college football. It worked. Fisher will make us a good football team. Sooner than you think.

Truthfully, I see Herman as tu's Sumlin. It's not going to work out. I think TAMU will put some distance between tu and ouselves for years to come. I'm hoping.

If TexAgs had existed when Jackie was at A&M, every other thread would have been "Fire Jackie!" during those first three seasons.

Will Aggies be willing to accept a .500 record during the first three seasons under Jimbo?

I'll take all you want to bet, all of it, that we don't .500
In any of fisher's 1st three seasons.

Edit. I'll give 2/1 on that actually. Be my best bet all year!!!
