Seahawks just released Boykin (accused of domestic violence), Wilson is the only QB under contract. Maybe a landing spot for at least a shot at a roster?

JFF as a split end or some other utility back type?
I seem to recall Johnny saying that he would not be against joining a team in a "Danny Amendola or Julian Edelman" role, but not as a defensive back. The fact that he can also play quarterback might allow a team to open up a roster position. I do think that is quite possibly his only route back to the NFL, and Belichick has had some success with reclamation projects in the past, so who knows? Weirder things have happened.queso1 said:

The seahawks weren't able to protect Wilson. I would hate to see Johnny get broken too.Witness said:keysercade said:

I could see it since Russell and Manziel have somewhat similar play styles but it would be tough to bring Johnny in as more than a third string QB before training camp to see how he does

No
My point was that IF he's going to make it back to the NFL, it will probably have to be at a position other than QB, and he appears to be open to that. Is it likely that he could pull of a position change this season? Julian Edelman had never played any position other than quarterback in high school and college, and he started the second game of his rookie year as a wide receiver. So it can be done. But as I said, who knows what they are thinking?Quote:
Great idea, a position he has never played.

Definitely agree. Great players can play more than 1 position on the field, but most choose not to. it would be very interesting to see how many players could have extended their NFL careers if they would have been less egotistical and switched positions. Most all of them played both sides of the ball in high school, why can't they move around later on?queso1 said:sawemoff2010 said:queso1 said:

Cool! Is that your opinion or did you talk to the pats and JFF about this to confirm your post?
Also to the poster who said "great a position he never played"...Antonio gates never played college football before starting in the NFL. Several college qbs have gone on to become good at other positions. Athletes gonna athlete.
I agree. There's isn't a big gap in talent and athleticism once they reach the NFL. That being said, players that are that talented and athletic can and do have the capacity to learn a new position at a high level and be successful given proper coaching and attitude.Dj.Beveled_Watercooler said:
I'm assuming any player with NFL potential could play just about any position in high school and be relatively successful due to superior athletic ability, not that its not possible in the league but the playing field is much more even in regards to athletic ability. Just my two cents.
Says who about putting butts in seats and eyes? Maybe in 1 area in Texas.DukeMu said:
The NFL's ratings suck (since Johnny left).

JFF has to provide some proof on the field, but there was plenty of a dearth of talent displayed at QB in the NFL this year. Some of the worst I've seen...and we know what the Browns' record is without Johnny.
The Patriots are an outstanding organization.Lbull said:
