On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being better than Nick Saban, how'd Jimbo do this NSD?

I'd say 8.9. With Waddle it'd be a 9.0, but there's always room for improvement.

Actually Sumlin was a marginal to poor recruiter. Too many misses, not enough depth, not enough emphasis on OL and DL+LB, too many high **** WR that skewed rankings, etc.

That was all obvious starting in 2017 and never changed. We couldn't play winning football when it counted or tough SEC football when it counted as we didn't recruit to it.

Agree with this 100%. Sumlin never had a plan for the team, whereas you can see Jimbo has a development plan for each player (as both he and the recruits said today).

Randomly recruiting high-rated players can work at the second tier where you can out-talent opponents, but not against the elite teams.

And even then Sumlin's best rated classes were on the low end of Jimbo's average.

For all his reputation as an offensive whiz Sumlin basically let his OCs call all the shots, hence 4 completely different offenses in 6 years (KK, McKinney, Spavital, Mazzone).

I don't think of Saban as the standard bearer of recruiters. He is the greatest coach of all time so people wanna play for him, anybody could recruit with his record of success..

If he can pull in Gerald on top of this, it's a 10 under the circumstances. He's a phenomenal closer and targeted the players towards a plan.

I think combined with better utilization and development of players at the most mismanaged positions (RB & TE) we will be surprised at the wonders a running game can do for the QBs, WRs, OL, and defense.

ITS quite literally was never coming to a&m and waddle was stringing a&m a long the last month. Kid was a bama lean thru and thru

10 with a full year.

9 this year because he didn't have the same playing field as saban

Jimbo exceeded my expectations. Just think if he had a whole year to work. I feel very good about the future. Maybe we did it right this time.

9.5/10 currently but goes to 10/10 if we get Gerald. Missing on Waddle sucked not gonna lie, but we have plenty of receiver depth and the 2019 class will be loaded. Happy this man is here and doing great things! Gig Em!
